Israel: settlers claim victory in compromise deal with government

29 June 2021; MEMO: Israeli settlers have claimed victory after reaching a compromise with the government over the land they took illegally over six weeks ago. The government led by far-right ultra-nationalist Neftali Bennett, a major proponent of Israel's illegal settlement enterprise, was expected to raze the Eviatar outpost in the occupied West Bank to the ground, but a compromise deal has been struck that will see settlers leave it within days.

Gaza reconstruction clouded by dispute over Israelis held by Hamas

GAZA, June 28 (Reuters) - Reconstruction of Gaza after last month's fighting between Israel and Hamas is being held up by a dispute over the fate of Israelis long held by the Islamist group and a lack of clarity over how to prevent it from accessing aid funds, officials say.

The Gaza government says 2,200 homes were destroyed and 37,000 damaged by Israeli shelling during 11 days of cross-border exchanges. Rebuilding those dwellings and wider Gaza infrastructure will cost some $500 million, the government says.

Palestine Calls For Int’l Sanctions Against Israel To Stop Anti-Palestinian Policies

RAMALLAH, Jun 27 (NNN-WAFA) – Palestine yesterday called for imposing international sanctions against Israel, to stop its policies against the Palestinian people in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.

The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a press statement that, it supports an Amnesty International report issued on Thursday saying, Israeli security forces committed violations against the Palestinians.

Palestine confirms first 2 cases of Delta variant of COVID-19 in West Bank

RAMALLAH, June 27 (Xinhua) -- Palestine on Sunday confirmed the first two cases of Delta variant of COVID-19 in the West Bank.

In a press statement, Palestinian Minister of Health Mai al-Kaila said that the two cases are of two Palestinian girls from the West Bank cities of Qalqilya and Salfit.

"The two infected girls came from the United Arab Emirates through Jordan," al-Kaila said, adding that they have been put under medical quarantine and tests have been taken from others who had contact with them.

Hamas condemns Germany's ban of its flag, symbols

26 June 2021; MEMO: The Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas on Friday condemned Germany's ban of its flag and symbols in the country, linking it to a wave of alleged anti-Semitic violence.

Speaking to Anadolu Agency, Hamas Spokesperson Hazem Qasem stated: "We regret and condemn Germany's decision on the ban of the Hamas flag and symbols."

Israel approves 31 new 'settlement zones' in the West Bank

25 June 2021; MEMO: Israel has approved 31 zoning plans, each containing a small number of housing units or facilities, in the occupied West Bank, in the first such move since the new coalition government came into office on 13 June.

The move, which was passed on Wednesday, saw 18 of the construction plans receiving final approval in illegal settlements such as Alfei Menashe, Elkana, Havat Sde Bar and Yitzhar. The approval is the first of its kind in six months.
