Pakistan: Heavy rains kill 28

11 June 2023; MEMO: At least 28 people, including women and children, died after heavy rains battered parts of Pakistan on Saturday, local media reported, Anadolu reports.

At least 145 others were also injured due to the rains in some parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab provinces, according to Geo News broadcaster.

At least 69 houses were also partially damaged by the rain, it added.

Pakistan: Imran Khan slams Army for jumping into politics

Lahore, May 14 (PTI) Pakistan's former prime minister Imran Khan hit out at the country's powerful army in his first address after an Islamabad court set him free, saying it should be ashamed of jumping into politics and could form its own political party.

Addressing the nation from his Lahore home on Saturday, Khan took strong exception to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) allegations against him and said the spokesperson of the army's military wing was not even born when he represented Pakistan in the world.

Pakistan: Khalistani 'terrorist' Paramjit Singh Panjwar shot dead by unidentified gunmen in Lahore

Lahore/Chandigarh, May 6 (PTI) Wanted Khalistani terrorist Paramjit Singh Panjwar was shot dead by unidentified gunmen while he was out for a morning walk on Saturday near his residence in Lahore, the provincial capital of Pakistan's Punjab province, police said.

Panjwar, 63, was heading the Khalistan Commando Force-Panjwar group and was designated as a terrorist by India under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act in July 2020.

Nearly 2,500 Indian Sikh pilgrims arrive in Pakistan to celebrate Baisakhi

Lahore, Apr 9 (PTI) Nearly 2,500 Sikh pilgrims arrived here from India on Sunday via Wagah border to attend the 'Vaisakhi Mela' festivities in Pakistan.

"In the celebrations of the Sikh festival - Vaisakhi commonly known Baisakhi - 2,470 pilgrims arrived here from India under the leadership of Parbandhak Committee Shiromani Gurdwara's Sardar Amarjit Singh," Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) spokesperson Amir Hashmi told PTI.

The ETPB looks after holy places of minorities in Pakistan.

Pakistan: Lahore High Court to hear toshakhana case of former Pak PM Imran Khan’s plea on April 12

Lahore, Apr 8 (PTI) A Pakistani court on Saturday fixed April 12 as the date for the much-awaited hearing on the Toshakhana corruption case against ousted prime minister Imran Khan.

A five-member bench of the Lahore High Court headed by Justice Shahid Bilal Hassan will hear the plea, according to the Dawn newspaper.

Pakistan court suspends Punjab govt's handing over of 45,000 acres land to Army

Lahore, Mar 31 (PTI) In a setback to the Pakistan Army, the Lahore High Court on Friday suspended handing over more than 45,000 acres of state land on a 30-year lease to the military in the Punjab province.

Punjab’s caretaker government last month allotted 45,266 acres of state land on lease to the Pakistan Army in three districts -- Khushab, Bhakar and Sahiwal -- of Punjab province for the "corporate agriculture farming" on the latter’s "request".

'Act now' to stop 'abuse' of power: Imran in a letter to Prez Alvi

Islamabad, Nov 7 (PTI) Pakistan's former prime minister Imran Khan has called on President Arif Alvi to "act now" and stop the massive "abuse" of citizens at the hands of "rogue elements" in the government.

In a letter to the president on Sunday, Khan stated that since the removal of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government, the country has been “confronted with an ever-increasing scale of false allegations, harassment, arrests, and custodial torture”.

Islamabad, Nov 5 (PTI) A deadlock persists over filing an FIR in connection with an assassination attempt on Imran Khan after the former prime minister refused to withdraw the name of a senior Pakistan Army officer from the complaint, which also carries the names of the Prime Minister and the Interior Minister.
