Laos: Six Seriously Injured In Landmine Explosion In Southern Laos

VIENTIANE, Jan 16 (NNN-KPL) – Six people suffered serious injuries, when a landmine detonated, as people prepared land for the planting of cassava in southern Laos’ Attapeu province.

The incident took place in Viengxay village of Phouvong district in Attapeu province, some 560 km south-east of the Lao capital, Vientiane, on Jan 11, Lao national radio reported, today.

The explosion wounded three females and three males, two of whom were children, according to the report.

Laos, China ready to further cooperation to build community with shared future

VIENTIANE, Jan. 10 (Xinhua) -- Laos is willing to promote cooperation in various areas with China to build a high-quality Laos-China community with a shared future, said General Secretary of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party (LPRP) Central Committee and Lao President Thongloun Sisoulith on Wednesday.

The Lao leader made the remarks when meeting with Li Shulei, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee here.

Lao PM expects enhanced cooperation with China

Laos, Mongolia agree to further enhance cooperation

VIENTIANE, Nov. 7 (Xinhua) -- The leaders of Laos and Mongolia signed seven cooperation agreements, aiming to build ties in economic affairs, trade, investment and tourism.

The signing of the documents, held in the Lao capital of Vientiane on Monday, was witnessed by Lao President Thongloun Sisoulith and his Mongolian counterpart Ukhnaa Khurelsukh, the Vientiane Mai newspaper reported on Tuesday.

Laos: ASEAN police forces vow enhanced cooperation in fight against transnational crimes

VIENTIANE, Oct. 19 (Xinhua) -- Delegates from ASEAN police forces met in the Lao capital Vientiane, vowing to continue their fight against transnational crimes as well as strengthen the relations between ASEAN police forces, dialogue partners and observer countries.

The pledge was made at a meeting of the heads of the ASEAN Police Delegation and negotiating partners, as part of the 41st ASEANAPOL Conference held in Vientiane on Tuesday, chaired by Lao Deputy Minister of Public Security Khamking Phouilamanivong.

VIENTIANE, June 27 (NNN-Bernama) — The Hague Court of Appeal in the Netherlands on Tuesday dismissed the Sulu claimants’ application for recognition and enforcement of a purported arbitral award of US$14.9 billion (RM62.59 billion) to be enforced in the Netherlands.

The ruling was announced by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim here in the capital of Laos before he departed for home after a two-day official visit to the ASEAN member state.

Laos: Medvedev says rat bastards who infiltrated Belgorod Region must be 'exterminated'

VIENTIANE, May 23. /TASS/: The deputy chairman of Russia’s Security Council, Dmitry Medvedev, has described the perpetrators of the attack on the Belgorod Region as "scumbags" who "should be exterminated like rats."

"As for these scumbags - there is no other way to call them - one can characterize them in different ways. The only question is what is to be done about them? You just have to exterminate them like the rats they are and not even take them prisoner," Medvedev said.

Russia regards AUKUS, QUAD as unfriendly alliances — Medvedev

VIENTIANE, May 23. /TASS/: Russia views certain alliances, such as AUKUS and QUAD, as unfriendly "because NATO is poking around," the deputy chairman of Russia’s Security Council, Dmitry Medvedev, told the media on Tuesday.

"It is quite obvious that some alliances and relations are neutral with regard to our country. We take part in certain alliances, for example ASEAN, as invited participants," he said, recalling the existence of the ASEAN+ format.

Laos Recorded Trade Surplus Of 1.39 Billion USD In 2022

VIENTIANE, May 20 (NNN-KPL) – Laos recorded a trade surplus of 1.39 billion U.S. dollars in 2022, and the total value of the country’s imports and exports was 15 billion dollars.

In 2022, the country’s exports were worth about 8.19 billion dollars, while imports were valued at 6.8 billion dollars, the Lao Economic Daily reported, yesterday.

Thailand was the largest export market for Laos in 2022, followed by China, Vietnam, Australia and Cambodia.

Thailand was also Laos’ largest source for imports, followed by China and Vietnam, according to the report.
