Indian air force jet crash kills 3 civilians

08 May 2023; AA: A MiG-21 jet of the Indian air force crashed in the western state of Rajasthan on Monday morning, killing three civilians on the ground, the air force and officials said.

In a statement, the air force said: "The aircraft had got airborne for a routine operational training sortie from the Air Force Station at Suratgarh. Soon thereafter, the pilot experienced an onboard emergency, following which he attempted to recover the aircraft as per existing procedures."

FIR filed against Union minister Gajendra Shekhawat over 'Ravana' remarks against Gehlot

Jaipur, Apr 30 (PTI) An FIR was registered against Union Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat in Rajasthan's Chittorgarh over his alleged remarks against Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot at a recent rally, police sources said.

The FIR was registered on Saturday based on a complaint filed by Congress leader and former MLA Surendra Singh Jadawat.

Jaipur, Apr 30 (PTI) Congress leader Shaktisinh Gohil has said Prime Minister Narendra Modi should break his silence and answers the issues raised by former Army chief General (retd) Shankar Roychowdhury over the 2019 Pulwama terror attack.

"Gen (retd) Shankar Roychowdhury said the biggest responsibility for the martyrdom of soldiers in Pulwama rests with the government. The National Security Advisor, who advises the prime minister, is also guilty of lapses in security," Gohil, a Rajya Sabha MP, said on Saturday.

India: Pilot renews demand for probe into 'BJP corruption'

Jaipur, Apr 17 (PTI) Making clear that he is not backing down from the stand he has taken against his own government in Rajasthan, Congress leader Sachin Pilot on Monday renewed his demand for a probe into alleged corruption during the term of the previous BJP government.

The former deputy chief minister recently went on a daylong fast over this, defying the party's central leadership even after it termed his proposed move "anti-party activity".

Jaipur, Apr 16 (PTI) Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Sunday said he understands the trickery used by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his speeches as he has been in politics for long.

During his address at a programme organised at the Rajasthan College here, the Congress leader said Modi would begin his speech with the words "my friend Ashok Gehlot" and then subject his government to harsh criticism.

He called it his "cleverness".

India: Welfare board for Sikh community to be constituted in Rajasthan

Jaipur, Apr 14 (PTI) Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has approved the constitution of a welfare board for the Sikh community on Friday, an official release said.

Shri Guru Nanak Dev Sikh Welfare Board will have a chairman, a vice-chairman and five members. It will be administered by the minority affairs department, it said.

India: Over 4,200 criminals arrested in single day in Rajasthan

Jaipur, Apr 2 (PTI) More than 4,200 criminals were arrested in 10 districts of Ajmer and Udaipur division in Rajasthan on Sunday, an official said. A campaign on direction by Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot is being run to catch criminals. Under this, as many as 4,255 criminals were arrested in districts under Ajmer and Udaipur range on Sunday, Director General of Police Umesh Mishra said.

India: 2 men arrested in Rajasthan for spying for Pakistan

Jaipur, Aug 13 (PTI) The intelligence wing of the Rajasthan Police arrested two men for allegedly spying for Pakistan, officials said on Saturday.

The accused were identified as Narayan Lal Gadri, 27, a resident of Bhilwara, and Kuldeep Singh Shekhawat, 24, of Jaipur. They were interrogated jointly by intelligence agencies.

Officials said Gadri provided SIM cards of Indian telecom companies to be used by his Pakistani handlers to run social media accounts.

India: Three arrested for spying in Rajasthan

Jaipur, Jul 2 (PTI) Three people were arrested on the charge of espionage for Pakistani intelligence agencies, a top intelligence official said on Saturday.

The action was taken against three people out of the 23 suspects detained during a special drive, Operation Hifajat , conducted in border districts, including Sri Ganganagar, Hanumangarh and Churu districts.
