Barmer, Oct 12 (PTI) A police constable allegedly raped a woman at her house in Rajasthan's Barmer district and was thrashed by her family members after she raised an alarm, officials said on Tuesday.

The accused constable, Sultan Singh, who is posted at Sheo police station, has been suspended, they said.

Singh entered the woman's house and allegedly raped her on Monday night. After the woman raised an alarm, her family members caught the constable and thrashed him badly, police said.

Jaipur, Oct 10 (PTI) A 15-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her cousin in Jaipur, police said on Sunday.

Manish (23) has been booked on the basis of a complaint lodged by the girl's family members, Galta Gate police station SHO Satish Kumar said.

The rape survivor's medical examination has been conducted and her statement will be recorded before the magistrate on Monday.

Jaipur, Oct 9 (PTI) A dalit man was allegedly beaten to death by a group of men in Rajasthan's Hanumangarh district over his love affair, police said on Saturday.

Three people have been detained in this connection, they said.

Taking strong note of the incident, Union Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat hit out at the Congress-led state government for keeping silence on the matter.

Jaipur, Oct 9 (PTI) A schoolteacher was arrested here for allegedly sending obscene messages to girl students, police said on Saturday.

Nikhil Jose, an NCC teacher at a private school, was arrested on Friday night after screenshots of his obscene chats started circulating on social media.

Obscene chats were found in his mobile phone and a case has been registered against him under sections of the IT Act, Ashok Nagar SHO Surendra Saini said.

Jaipur, Oct 5 (PTI) A Jaipur court on Tuesday sentenced a 25-year-old man to 20 years in jail for raping a 9-year-old girl, imposing the punishment within nine days of the commission of the crime.

Setting a benchmark mark on the swiftness of the delivery of the verdict that, experts say, also enhances the deterrence value of the punishment, the special POCSO, decided the case within five working days and convicted the accused.

The court also imposed a penalty of Rs 2 lakh on convict Kamlesh Meena.

Kota (Rajasthan) September 29 (PTI) A 55-year-old man was killed after his motorcycle accidentally hit a stray cow on a state highway in Rajasthan's Bundi district Wednesday, police said.

Raghunandan Modi, a resident of Kota city, was an Ayurvedic doctor at a government hospital in Gendoli town.

He was going to work around 7.30 am when the incident took place.

He fell, striking his head on the road and died on the spot, Gendoli Station House Officer (SHO) Budhram said.

Jaipur, Sep 21 (PTI) A seven-year-old girl was allegedly raped and murdered by a neighbour in Rajasthan's Nagaur district, police said on Tuesday.

The accused kidnapped the girl from her residence in a village under Padu Kalan police station limits on Monday and took her to a secluded place, where he raped her.

A case has been registered against the accused, Dinesh Jat (20), for kidnap, rape and murder and he has been detained, Padu Kalan Station House Officer (SHO) Ashok Bishu said.

Jammu, Sept 18 (PTI) The Jammu and Kashmir police has rescued a minor girl, abducted from here two months ago, from Rajasthan, an official said on Saturday.

The police also arrested two brothers alleged involved in her abduction and subsequent rape.

The police had lodged the case on July 17 on the complaint of the minor girl's father at Chatha police station.

The complainant had stated that his daughter had gone missing and is believed to have been kidnapped by some unidentified persons, a police spokesman said.

Jaipur, Aug 31 (PTI) The Rajasthan Congress on Tuesday claimed that the opposition BJP is getting weakened in the state due to infighting, triggering a sharp reaction from the saffron party.

The BJP leaders are fighting among themselves and the people are watching this, the Rajasthan Congress president Govind Singh Dotasra said.

Instead of pointing out any shortcomings in the government schemes and programmes, they are fighting among themselves. I do not think that the BJP will be able to stand on its feet in future, he added.

Jaipur, Aug 30 (PTI) A 16-year-old girl was allegedly raped by five people, including a minor, in Nagaur district of Rajasthan.

The victim's father lodged an FIR at the Jayal police station in Nagaur on Sunday night following which the police arrested a 20-year-old man and detained the minor boy on Monday.
