Israel orders demolition of Palestinian homes in West Bank village

07 July 2021; MEMO: Israeli authorities today ordered the demolition of Palestinian homes in the village of Hamsa Al-Fawqa in the northern Jordan Valley, northeast of the occupied West Bank.

Speaking to Anadolu Agency, Moataz Basharat, a senior official who monitors Israeli settlement activities, said occupation forces stormed Hamsa Al-Fawqa village and have so far demolished and confiscated three houses. The demolition process is ongoing.

Palestinian President Holds Phone Talk With Outgoing Israeli President

RAMALLAH, Jul 7 (NNN-WAFA) – Palestinian President, Mahmoud Abbas, yesterday, expressed the hope that peace will be achieved soon, between Israel and Palestine, during a phone talk with outgoing Israeli counterpart, Reuven Rivlin.

Rivlin thanked Abbas for making the phone call, which is rare between the two presidents.

The report didn’t disclose more details on the content of the conversation.

The phone talk was coordinated by Ghassan Alian, the Israeli government coordinator, in the Palestinian territories, reported Israel Radio.

EU Says Israel’s Measures Of Displacing Palestinians “Illegal”

RAMALLAH, Jul 6 (NNN-WAFA) – The European Union (EU) said yesterday that, Israel’s measures of displacing the Palestinians in East Jerusalem and demolishing their homes “are illegal and lead to more violence.”

In a press statement, the EU mission in Palestine, said that, the Israeli authorities demolished last week, a Palestinian store, in the al-Bustan neighbourhood, in East Jerusalem.

Israel arrests Palestinian rights lawyer who protested against Abbas

06 July 2021; MEMO: A Palestinian human rights lawyer was detained by Israeli forces early on Sunday after taking part in a protest in the West Bank against Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, the international rights group Independent Commission for Human Rights (ICHR) said.

According to ICHR, Farid Al-Atrash was arrested at an Israeli checkpoint east of Jerusalem. He had been taking part in a protest against the Palestinian Authority in Ramallah.

Palestinian Authority detains 21 Palestinian activists in Ramallah

Palestinian Authority (PA)'s security services yesterday detained 21 Palestinian protesters who arrived in Al-Manara Square to protest against the murder of Palestinian activist Nizar Banat.

Eyewitnesses said that 21 activists were detained as soon as they arrived at Al-Manara Square, including ten women.

Last month, PA security officers raided a house in Hebron and brutally beat Nizar Banat to death. Banat, 44, was an outspoken critic of the PA's corruption.

Gantz aims to 'repair image of his army' by threatening Gaza: Hamas

05 July 2021; MEMO: The Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement said on Sunday that Israeli Defence Minister Benny Gantz wants to "repair the image of his army" by threatening Gaza. The Israeli army was "shocked" by the response of the resistance groups during the Sword of Jerusalem battle, said Hamas spokesman Hazem Qasem.

UN: Israel demolished, confiscated 24 structures in West Bank in two weeks

05 July 2021; MEMO: The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said that over the past two weeks, Israel has demolished, seized, or forced the demolition of 24 Palestinian-owned structures across the occupied West Bank under the pretext that they lacked building permits.
