In light of international support for Ukraine, Palestine calls to stop double-standards

05 March 2022; MEMO: In light of international support for Ukraine, Palestinians have called for the international community to stop its double-standards policy and back the Palestinian cause.

"When colour, religion and race become an identity, its when values, morals and humanity are lost," member of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organisation (PLO), Hussein Al-Sheikh, posted on Twitter.

Number of illegal settlers in West Bank, Jordan Valley close to half a million

05 March 2022; MEMO: Israeli media outlets have revealed the number of settlers in the occupied West Bank and the Jordan Valley, stressing that the percentage of settlers has increased by 43 per cent since 2011.

The newspaper Israel Today stated that the number of Israeli settlers in the occupied West Bank and the Jordan Valley had reached 491,923 as of last January, distributed among approximately 150 settlements.

UK: Staff support museum director sacked for Palestine solidarity

The signatories called the move a "grave violation of academic and artistic freedom of expression."

India: Ukranian soldiers ill-treated us, say evacuated Rajasthan students

Jaipur, Mar 3 (PTI) Indian students who returned here from Ukraine said the situation at the war-hit country's border with Romania was horrific, with Ukranian soldiers thrashing Indians and firing tear gas shells.

The eight students who arrived here after fleeing the war-torn nation amid the intense Russian military offensive also accused the Indian embassy officials in Ukraine of not extending any support.

Occupied Jerusalem: Israeli army closes Sheikh Jarrah to secure settlers' rally

03 March 2022; MEMO: Israeli security forces closed Sheikh Jarrah in the centre of occupied East Jerusalem on Wednesday in order to secure a rally organised by Israeli settlers in the neighbourhood, Anadolu has reported.

According to a Facebook post by the Wadi Hilweh Information Centre, the Israeli forces closed the neighbourhood with steel barriers and deployed more armed personnel at the checkpoints. Eyewitnesses said that Israeli police arrested a Palestinian youth while implementing the closure by force.

Palestine: Stealing lands does not change reality on the ground: MP

03 March 2022; MEMO: Palestinian MP, Ahmad Attoun, said yesterday that Israel's theft of Palestinian land in Jerusalem does not change the reality on the ground, the Palestinian Information Centre reported.

His remarks came following an Israeli Planning and Construction Committee's decision to steal the land of the centuries-old Muslim graveyard located east of Jerusalem's Al-Aqsa Mosque – Al-Yusufiyah Cemetery.

UAE tightens entry for Ukrainians as thousands flee war

02 March 2022; MEMO: The United Arab Emirates has temporarily suspended a visa waiver for Ukrainian citizens, Kyiv's Embassy in the Gulf Arab State said, at a time thousands of people are fleeing war in Ukraine, Reuters reports.

The UAE decision went into effect on Tuesday, the Embassy said in a notice to citizens on its Facebook page, without providing a reason. Emirati authorities did not respond to a request for comment.

Qatar: Israel occupation is 'one of worst ongoing humanitarian crises'

02 March 2022; MEMO:Qatar's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Mohammed Al Thani, on Monday described Israel's occupation of Palestinian land as "one of the worst ongoing humanitarian crises."

Speaking at the 49th Regular Session of the UN Human Rights Council, he said: "The Israeli occupation of the Palestinian and Arab lands still represents a model of colonial occupation that has been transcended by history."
