Palestine: Hamas urges UN to hold Israel criminals accountable

10 Sep 2022; MEMO: On the occasion of the United Nations (UN) sponsoring the Global Congress of Victims of Terrorism, the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas has urged the international organisation to hold Israeli criminals accountable for their crimes against Palestinians.

Israel settlers cut down olive trees in Palestine village

10 Sep 2022; MEMO:Israeli occupation settlers cut down at least 25 olive trees on a Palestinian farm in the village of Qaryout, south of the West Bank city of Nablus, on Saturday morning.

Local Palestinian Authority (PA) official Ghassan Daghlas confirmed that the olive trees were planted on private Palestinian land.

Daghlas explained that Israeli occupation settlers trespassed onto the farm and cut down the olive trees, pointing out that the olive harvest season starts at the end of September.

German broadcaster DW adopts commitment to Israel in code of conduct

09 Sep 2022; MEMO: Germany's international broadcaster, Deutsche Welle (DW) has adopted a new code of conduct which threatens staff with dismissal if they question Israel's right to exist. Israel is mentioned twice when referring to the company's commitments against racism and anti-Semitism. No other country, political or national group is mentioned in the same way as the Apartheid State.

Indian-American Congresswoman receives threat messages, asked to go back to India

Washington, Sep 9 (PTI) Indian-American Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal has said that she has been receiving abusive and hate messages over the phone from a male caller who even asked her to go back to India.

On Thursday, Chennai-born Jayapal posted a collection of five such audio messages.

In all the messages, portions of which have been redacted because of obscene and abusive content, the male caller is heard threatening her with dire consequences and in one instance she is being asked to go back to her country of origin India.

India: SC grants bail to journalist Siddique Kappan

New Delhi, Sep 9 (PTI) The Supreme Court on Friday granted bail to Kerala-based journalist Siddique Kappan, arrested in October 2020 while on his way to Hathras in Uttar Pradesh where a Dalit woman had died after allegedly being gang-raped.

A bench headed by Chief Justice Uday Umesh Lalit directed Kappan to remain in Delhi for the next six weeks after the release from an Uttar Pradesh prison.

The bench imposed certain conditions on him including asking him to surrender his passport and report to the police station on every Monday.

Palestinian official slams 'daily' Israeli incursions into West Bank

09 Sep 2022; MEMO: Israel weakens the Palestinian Authority by storming the Occupied Palestinian Territories everyday then alleging that the Palestinian Authority is weak and incapable of exercising its control over its territories, Palestinian Civil Affairs Minister Hussein Al-Sheikh told Israeli website Walla News yesterday.

UN renews demand for killers of Shireen Abu Akleh to be held to account

07 Sep 2022; MEMO: UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres renewed his demand yesterday for those who killed Palestinian-American journalist Shireen Abu Akleh to be held to account, Anadolu has reported. The demand was explained by the Secretary-General's spokesman, Stephane Dujarric, at the UN headquarters in New York.

Israeli raids on airport amount to a 'war crime'; Syria Foreign Ministry

07 Sep 2022; MEMO: Syria's Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday it considered Israeli recent air strikes on civilian infrastructure to be a war crime, Reuters reports.

A Foreign Ministry statement specifically referred to Israeli air raids on Tuesday on Aleppo International Airport which damaged the runway and put the site out of service for the second time in a week.

India: BJP leader, 21 others booked after Muslim man beaten to death

Bhadohi (UP), Sep 7 (PTI) A local BJP leader and 21 others were booked after a man died as the politician and his supporters allegedly thrashed him at his house, police said on Wednesday.

Police said seven people have been detained and additional force are deployed in the area to avoid any untoward incident.
