Palestine: PA calls for adding Israeli settlers to terror lists

11 October 2022; MEMO: Palestinian Authority (PA)'s Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh yesterday described the Israeli aggression in the occupied Palestinian territories as organised state terrorism and called for settlers to be added to terror lists.

"What is happening on the ground is organised state terrorism, which the Israeli occupation government is solely responsible for," Shtayyeh said at the start of the weekly cabinet meeting in Ramallah.

Israel tests pumping gas from disputed gas field with Lebanon

9 October 2022; MEMO: Israel on Sunday started to test the pumping of gas from the disputed Karish gas field amid tension with Lebanon, according to local media, Anadolu reports.

Israeli Channel 12 reported that Israel's security establishment has given the US gas drilling company Energean the green light to start its tests.

Public broadcaster KAN said full pumping operations from the site may be ready within weeks after the completion of the tests.

India: Dalit girl raped in Amethi

Amethi (UP), Oct 9 (PTI) A 15-year-old Dalit girl was allegedly raped by a man in a village in Jamo area here, police said on Sunday.

The incident took place on October 3 when the man looking after music arrangements in a Durga puja pandal raped her in the field when she went to attend nature's call, they said.

SHO, Jamo, Akhilesh Gutpa said an FIR has been lodged under IPC section 376 (rape), SC/ST Atrocities Prevention Act and POCSO Act.

The accused identified as Monu has been arrested, he said.

2 Palestinians killed in Israeli raid in occupied West Bank

8 October 2022; MEMO: Two Palestinians were killed in an Israeli military raid in the West Bank city of Jenin on Saturday, according to the Health Ministry, Anadolu reports.

A ministry statement said 11 other Palestinians were injured in the raid in the Jenin refugee camp, including three seriously.

According to local residents, clashes erupted in the camp when Israeli forces pushed deep into the area.

Tunisia's Ennahda calls for unifying efforts to confront 'coup'

8 October 2022; MEMO: Tunisia's Ennahda movement has renewed calls for rallying efforts to confront what it termed "coup" in the North African country, Anadolu reports.

"The existing authority headed by [President] Kais Saied is responsible for spoiling political life and turning the economic crisis into a catastrophe that threatens the people's livelihood," the movement said in a statement.

Sudan's schools: 7m children without education

8 October 2022; MEMO: A shocking statistic published by the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) confirmed that 6.9 million Sudanese children do not attend school. This means that one out of every three school-aged children in the country does not receive an education, while another 12 million children do not receive a quality education.

India: Public flogging by state police in Gujrat: TMC files complaint with NHRC

New Delhi, Oct 7 (PTI) The TMC has filed a complaint with the National Human Rights Commission in connection with the public flogging of Muslim men by Gujarat Police personnel, party spokesperson Saket Gokhale said on Friday.

He said it is "a matter of shame" that the NHRC hasn't taken suo moto cognizance of the matter.

Israel steals then sells Palestinian farmer's equipment

6 October 2022; MEMO: The Israeli occupation authorities have sold a Palestinians farmer's equipment after it was stolen from his farm in the occupied Jordan Valley, Wafa has reported. Suleiman Bani Odeh was told by the occupation authorities that they had sold the two water tankers taken from him two months ago. The items were sold at a public auction.

New York Times sacks Gaza journalist for expressing support for Palestinian resistance

6 October 2022; MEMO: Palestinian photojournalist, Hosam Salem, has been fired by the New York Times for expressing support for Resistance against Israeli occupation. The Gaza- based journalist has been working as a freelancer for the American outlet since 2018, but was dismissed after a dossier compiled by a pro-Israel group, accusing Salem of anti-Semitism, was presented to the Times.

Palestine: Israeli occupation forces open fire at Palestinian fishermen and farmers in Gaza

6 October 2022; MEMO: Israeli occupation forces opened fire against Palestinian fishermen off the coast of the besieged Gaza Strip on Wednesday, Wafa has reported.

At the time that the Israeli occupation navy opened fire, the fishermen were just three nautical miles off the coast. They were forced to return to Gaza's small fishing port.
