UN to investigate apartheid charges against Israel

28 October 2022; MEMO: The United Nations Commission of Inquiry announced yesterday that the ongoing investigation against Israel will start probing apartheid charges, reported the Times of Israel.

During a briefing at the United Nations in New York yesterday, the three members of the commission said future reports will investigate apartheid by Israel.

5 former European foreign ministers accuse Israel of being 'apartheid state'

29 October 2022; MEMO: In an open letter, five former European ministers labelled Israel's policies against Palestinians as "the crime of apartheid", Anadolu News Agency reports.

"We see no alternative but to acknowledge that Israel's policies and practices against the Palestinians amount to the crime of apartheid," they said in a letter published by French daily, Le Monde, on Thursday.

ICC must investigate war crimes in Israeli assault on Gaza, Amnesty says

25 October 2022; MEMO: The human rights group, Amnesty International, has called on the International Criminal Court (ICC) to investigate the "unlawful attacks" Israel committed during its assault of the Gaza Strip in August this year, particularly the deaths of three civilians killed in the conflict.

6 Palestinians killed by Israel in occupied West Bank

25 October 2022; MEMO: Israeli occupation forces killed six Palestinians this morning across the northern occupied West Bank city of Nablus, including Wadih Al Houh, a leader of the Lions' Den group.

According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, five Palestinians were killed by Israeli gunfire. One of those killed was unarmed, it added.

Qatar has been subjected to smear campaigns since winning the bid to host the World Cup, Emir says

25 October 2022; MEMO: Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani that his country has been subjected to an unprecedented smear campaign since the announcement that it would be hosting the 2022 World Cup. This is the first time the World Cup is being organised in an Arab country and in the Middle East.

The emir's statement was made during the opening of the 51st ordinary session of the elected Shura Council.

Palestine: Hamas claims foiling Israeli intelligence operations in Gaza

23 October 2022; MEMO: The Hamas-run Interior Ministry said Saturday it had thwarted several Israeli intelligence operations in the Gaza Strip, reports Anadolu Agency.

Iyad al-Bozom, the ministry spokesman, did not, however, provide any details of the thwarted operations.

On Monday, Doha-based Al-Jazeera TV said that last month Malaysian authorities had freed a Palestinian kidnapped by Israeli Mossad agents in the capital Kuala Lumpur.

India: Viral video shows Karnataka gov minister assaulting woman

Chamarajanagar (K'taka), Oct 23 (PTI) Karnataka Housing Minister V Somanna was caught up in controversy for allegedly slapping a woman in a village in Gundlupet here when she went with a plea to resolve her grievance.

The minister has not yet reacted to the incident but the woman said Somanna was only consoling her after she tried to prostrate before him with a plea to allot her a government plot.

Israel occupation forces, settlers attack Palestinians across occupied West Bank

22 October 2022; MEMO: Israeli occupation forces on Friday attacked Palestinian demonstrations, while Israeli settlers attacked farmers across the occupied West Bank cities, Al-Resalah newspaper reported.

Following Friday prayers, Palestinians rallied at the Israeli military checkpoints of Huwwara, south of Nablus, and Beit Furik, east of Nablus. They also gathered near the Deir Sharaf crossing, which has been closed for 12 days.
