LIBREVILLE, Sept. 9 (Xinhua) -- Raymond Ndong Sima, Gabonese transitional prime minister, on Saturday published the list of 26 members of his government.

According to the list, this transitional government is made up of 26 ministers, including the head of the transitional government. Key government positions were held by new figures, including Murielle Minkoue Epse Mintsa, minister of institutional reform.

LIBREVILLE, Gabon (AP) — Gabon’s ousted President Ali Bongo Ondimba, who has been under house arrest since he was deposed last week, is free Thursday and can embark on a medical trip, the country’s new military leaders said.

Ondimba is “free to move given his state of health,” Col. Ulrich Manfoumbi, spokesman for the transition committee, said on state television a day earlier. “He can, if he wishes, go abroad to carry out his medical checks.”

LIBREVILLE, Aug. 30 (Xinhua) -- The Gabonese military have canceled presidential election results and dissolved state institutions, officers said Wednesday, claiming that they have taken power and put President Ali Bongo under house arrest.

In a televised statement, a group of senior Gabonese officers said that they seized power after Bongo, the incumbent president, was announced to be re-elected in a contested election. The election results were cancelled, state institutions dissolved, and all borders closed until further notice, they said.

UNITED NATIONS, Sept 24 (NNN-AGENCIES) — Gabon will become the first African country paid with international funds to preserve its forests in an effort to fight climate change, the United Nations said.

Norway will provide Gabon, which is almost 90 percent covered by forest, with $150 million (136 million euros) to battle deforestation, according to the Central African Forest Initiative (CAFI), which the UN launched to bring together the region’s nations with Western donors.

Gabon's ailing President Ali Bongo arrived back in Gabon after spending three months receiving medical treatment abroad, according to sources quoted by news agencies Reuters and Agence France Presse (AFP).

LIBREVILLE, Jan. 8 (Xinhua) -- Gabon thwarted a brief coup attempt on Monday and arrested four soldiers involved. International organizations, like the United Nations and the African Union (AU), and countries have condemned the coup attempt.

Gabonese government spokesman Guy-Bertrand Mapangou said that renegade soldiers entered the national radio station in the capital Libreville around 4 a.m. local time Monday (0300 GMT) to announce the establishment of a "national council of the restoration", according to Radio France International (RFI).
