India: Another 150 people allegedly linked with PFI held across seven states

New Delhi, Sep 27 (PTI) More than 150 people allegedly linked with the Popular Front of India (PFI) were detained or arrested in raids across seven states on Tuesday, five days after a similar pan India crackdown against the group often accused of being linked to radical Islam.

Conducted mostly by state police teams, the raids were spread across Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Gujarat, Delhi, Maharashtra, Assam and Madhya Pradesh.

Jerusalem Patriarch condemns settler attacks on Al-Aqsa Mosque

27 Sep 2022; MEMO: The Greek Orthodox Patriarch of Jerusalem, Theophilos III, has condemned the extremist Jews' attacks on Al-Aqsa Mosque, warning that any change to the status quo at Al-Aqsa Mosque is equivalent to a threat to the status quo in the Church of the Holy Sepulchre.

Patriarch Theophilos III said in a statement issued yesterday that increasing attacks on Al-Aqsa Mosque are a "blatant aggression against religious rights", adding that it is imperative for all honourable Muslims and Christians to unite in defeating them.

Egypt: Israel violations against Al-Aqsa Mosque 'dangerous escalation'

27 Sep 2022; MEMO: Egypt yesterday condemned "repeated violations" committed by right-wing Israelis against Jerusalem's Al-Aqsa Mosque.

In the statement, which was issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Egypt said that the Israeli raids "are being carried out with the support and protection of the Israeli occupation police."

Jerusalem priest calls on Christians to protect Al-Aqsa Mosque from Israeli raids

27 Sep 2022; MEMO: Father Manuel Musallam, a Palestinian catholic priest, yesterday called for all Christians in Palestine to mobilise and protect Al-Aqsa Mosque from planned Israeli settler raids in the coming days and weeks.

In a press release, Musallam said that the "success of the settler plans to demolish Al-Aqsa Mosque means the demolition of the Christian and Islamic existence in Jerusalem."

Calls for holding emergency Arab League meeting on Al-Aqsa Mosque

27 Sep 2022; MEMO: Over 100 political parties, organisations, groups and youth initiatives around the world yesterday called on the Arab League to hold an emergency meeting to discuss the escalating Israeli aggression on Al-Aqsa Mosque.

In a statement the bodies condemned Israeli settler raids of Al-Aqsa Mosque which have escalated in the run up to the Jewish holidays.

Palestine is 'national issue' for Algeria: Tebboune

26 Sep 2022; MEMO: Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune said yesterday that "Palestine is a national issue" for his country, pointing out that "there is no Algerian young or elderly who does not support Palestine."

In a meeting with Algerian governors, Tebboune said: "We do not accept Palestine to be occupied," adding that "we will continue supporting it even if it was occupied by the world's strongest power."

"Palestine is for Palestinians, not for others," he stressed.

Palestine: 50,000 right-wing Jews desecrate Al-Aqsa Mosque

India: Court allows ED one-week police custody of three Delhi unit PFI functionaries

New Delhi, Sep 24 (PTI) A court here has allowed the Enforcement Directorate seven days' custody of three Delhi unit functionaries of the Popular Front of India (PFI) for their alleged role in money laundering in the guise of cash donations.

The court was hearing the ED's application seeking remand for two weeks of the three accused - Perwez Ahmad, president of PFI Delhi, Mohd. Ilias, general secretary of the Delhi unit and its office secretary Abdul Muqeet.

25 Sep 2022; MEMO: Israel assassinated Al Jazeera journalist Shireen Abu Akleh on 11 May while she was covering the occupation army's storming of Jenin refugee camp. The 51-year-old was wearing a flak jacket clearly displaying the word "Press" and had a helmet on, but was still shot in the head by an Israeli sniper.
