India: Ayodhya land purchase: Trust must clarify if money collected in name of faith misused, says Sanjay Raut

Mumbai, Jun 14 (PTI) Amid charges of corruption in the land purchased by the Ram Janmabhoomi Trust in Ayodhya, Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut on Monday demanded "clarification" from the Trust and other leaders, saying the construction of the temple is a matter of faith for the saffron party and the common people.

Talking to reporters here, Raut said Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Sanjay Singh spoke to him on the issue this morning and the "evidence provided by him is shocking".

India: Traffic load on Kanpur Central to reduce after diversion of trains

Kanpur: To lessen the heavy traffic load on Central railway station, the third track will be laid down from Chandari station to Ruma railway station.

Unhindered passing of the trains will certainly increase the speed of the important trains and unnecessary delay will thus be minimised.

Likewise, the trains will move through Govindpuri railway station. Following the completion of work on Dedicated Freight Corridors, the goods trains will also pass through outer route.

Vatican rejects third appeal of expelled Kerala nun

Thiruvananthapuram, Jun 14 (PTI): The Vatican has rejected one more appeal of Sister Lucy Kalappura, a Keralite nun against the decision of Franciscan Clarist Congregation (FCC) to expel her for "failing" to provide explanation for her lifestyle, which allegedly violated church rules.

According to an internal church communication, Apostalica Signatura, the apex judicial authority in the Catholic Church, rejected the nun's third appeal against dismissing her from the century-old Congregation.

India: Cong needs widespread reforms to show it's no longer in inertia: Kapil Sibal

New Delhi, Jun 13 (PTI) The Congress must bring widespread reforms across all levels of the organisation to show it is no longer in a state of inertia and to present itself as a viable political alternative to the BJP, party veteran Kapil Sibal said on Sunday.

India needs a resurgent Congress. But for that, the party needs to show that it is active, present, aware and is in the mood to engage meaningfully," the former union minister said in an exclusive interview to PTI.

India: Govindpuri-Fazalganj road turns worse due to digging

Kanpur: No road is devoid of small or large pits. If the rains occur, the road turns out dangerous due to trenches. The situation turns worse if the deep digging of the road continues and authorities concerned show a little less care in repairing. If the very possibility of restoring the road remains vague, the road users are seen cursing their fate.

These days the digging work on Govindpuri- Fazalganj road continues for laying down the sewer line under the Amrit Yojna.

India's COVID-19 tally rises to 29,510,410

NEW DELHI, June 14 (Xinhua) -- India's COVID-19 tally rose to 29,510,410 on Monday, with as many as 70,421 new cases recorded in the past 24 hours, said the federal health ministry.

Besides, 3,921 COVID-19 patients died since Sunday morning, taking the death toll to 374,305.

This was the seventh consecutive day when less than 100,000 cases were registered across the country, after peaking to over 400,000 for several days in April-May which was dubbed as the pandemic's second wave.

India: 'Corona mata' (Corona mother) temple built at UP village, demolished

Pratapgarh (UP), Jun 12 (PTI) People at Juhi Shukulpur village here built a "corona mata" temple, seeking divine grace to stay clear of the infection. However, the temple built on June 7 was demolished on Friday night.

Villagers alleged that it was demolished by police, which denied the charge, saying it was constructed on a disputed site and one of the parties involved in the dispute razed it.

Villagers said the temple was constructed five days ago by Lokesh Kumar Srivastava with the help of donations from local residents.

India: Minor girl raped in Punjab two arrested

Hoshiarpur, June 12 (PTI) Two persons were arrested on the charge of raping a 14-year-old girl in a Hosiarpur village, police said on Saturday.

The accused have been identified as Kulvir Singh and Gurmukh Singh, said police.

The victim alleged that her neighbour Gurmukh Singh and his friend Kulvir Singh had raped her.

They also threatened her of dire consequences if she disclosed it to anyone, the victim told police.

India: Pune varsity wanted Rs 1,000/month fee from joggers, suspends after flak

Pune, Jun 12 (PTI) A day after the Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) issued a circular proposing a monthly fee of Rs 1,000 for joggers using its green campus, authorities on Saturday suspended the scheme following flak.

The suspension of the 'SPPU Oxy Park' scheme was announced by Maharashtra Higher and Technical Education Minister Uday Samant on Twitter.

The green lush campus of the varsity has been a favourite place for the morning and evening walkers from adjoining residential areas.

India: 65 kids test coronavirus positive in Maha over last 4 days

Osmanabad, Jun 12 (PTI) At least 65 children have tested positive for coronavirus in Osmanabad district of Maharashtra over the last four days, as per the data shared by the district civil hospital.

As per the data, the COVID-19 positivity rate and fatality rate are falling in the Osmanabad district but COVID-19 patients in the age group of 0 to 18 years are found in the district for the first time.
