India: Traffic load on Kanpur Central to reduce after diversion of trains

Kanpur: To lessen the heavy traffic load on Central railway station, the third track will be laid down from Chandari station to Ruma railway station.

Unhindered passing of the trains will certainly increase the speed of the important trains and unnecessary delay will thus be minimised.

Likewise, the trains will move through Govindpuri railway station. Following the completion of work on Dedicated Freight Corridors, the goods trains will also pass through outer route.

The need for this was being realised for the past days but hurdles delayed the work, as told by sources.

According to the reports, there is a distance of about 12-km between the two stations.

In the case of the third track, as many as 40 trains including the Rajdhani trains will be bypassed from Kanpur Central.

An inspection of the route was completed by A K Singh chief engineer and Ashish Verma, executive engineer. Initiation of the work is reported to have begun.

The instructions to complete the work timely was also given.

It has been said that a total of 19 minor bridges will be constructed. Special care will be given to stop waterlogging on the track.

The Railways has put a target of completing the work by July, 022.
