Israel bows to pressure and delays forced evictions in Sheikh Jarrah

10 May 2021; MEMO: Israel appears to have bowed to international pressure and delayed the forced eviction of Palestinian families from their homes in occupied East Jerusalem. The court hearing for the evictions was due to take place today but has been postponed following this weekend's assault by Israeli police against unarmed Palestinians and the storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque during the last few days of the holy month of Ramadan.

Israeli police fired at worshippers in Al-Aqsa Mosque, 64 Palestinians injured

09 May 2021; MEMO: At least 64 people on Sunday were injured after Israeli police intervention with plastic bullets and sound bombs after dawn prayer time, Anadolu Agency reports.

After performing the dawn prayer, hundreds of people gathered between Masjid Al-Qiblatain and the Dome of the Rock Mosque inside the flashpoint compound and unfurled Palestine and Hamas flags.

Hamas calls for Palestine resistance to be ready for Israel's escalation at Al-Aqsa Mosque

08 May 2021; MEMO: The Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas called on Friday for Palestinian resistance factions in Gaza to be ready for any Israeli escalation at Al-Aqsa Mosque and in Jerusalem's neighbourhoods, a statement has announced.

Arabs in Israel call for mass protests in support of Jerusalem, Al-Aqsa Mosque

08 May 2021; MEMO: The High Follow-Up Committee for Arab Citizens of Israel has called for protests in Arab towns and cities across Israel to show support for Palestinians in Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa Mosque.

In a statement, the committee called for: "Support of Jerusalem and its people in the face of the bloody terrorist aggression against our people in Jerusalem's neighbourhoods and Al-Aqsa Mosque."

Israel detains Al-Aqsa guard, bans sheikh from entering mosque

07 May 2021; MEMO: Israeli occupation forces yesterday detained one of the guards of Al-Aqsa Mosque and extended Sheikh Najeh Bakirat's ban from entering the Muslim Hily site, the Palestinian Information Centre reported.

Police officers arrested Bader Al-Rajbi from Bab Alsilsila area in the Old City of Jerusalem and took him to a detention centre in the holy city.

UN coordinator concerned by surge in West Bank tension

07 May 2021; MEMO: The UN Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, Tor Wennesland, is "deeply concerned" by the tension in the occupied West Bank and Israeli attempts to expel Palestinians from Jerusalem's Sheikh Jarrah neighbourhood, the international organisation said on Thursday.

Islamic Movement calls for ongoing resistance at Al Aqsa Mosque

06 May 2021; MEMO: The Islamic Movement in Jerusalem called on Wednesday for resistance in and around Al Aqsa Mosque, and for people not to be deceived by the claim that the Israeli occupation authorities have stopped settlers from entering the Muslims' holy site.

In a media statement, the movement hailed the worshippers inside Al Aqsa Mosque and called on them to continue their struggle against the Israeli occupation forces and the Jewish settlers who desecrate the Noble Sanctuary.

PA complaints to ICC over Israel's eviction of Sheikh Jarrah residents

06 May 2021; MEMO: The Palestinian Authority (PA) has complained to the International Criminal Court (ICC) regarding the "forced eviction of Arab families from their homes in the Sheikh Jarrah neighbourhood of East Jerusalem", a PA official announced yesterday.

Spokesperson Ibrahim Melhem wrote on Facebook that Israel is violating international law by evicting the Palestinian families in this area to make way for illegal settlers.

Israel settlers set fire to Palestine farmland in Nablus

05 May 2021; MEMO: Extreme right-wing Jewish settlers set fire to Palestinian farmlands and attacked houses in the occupied West Bank village of Burin, near Nablus, yesterday evening, Wafa has reported.

According to Ghassan Douglas, the Palestinian official in charge of the settlements' portfolio in the northern West Bank, settlers set fire to a large tract of farmland in the eastern section of the town and attacked at least three houses.
