Israel bombing destroys water supplies of 20% of Gaza residents

20 May 2021; MEMO: Israeli forces have deliberately targeted two water pipelines in the Al-Saftawi area cutting supplies to 20 per cent of the residents of Gaza City, the municipality said in a statement today.

"The Israeli air strikes on Al-Saftawi area last night damaged two main water pipelines feeding the northwestern residential areas," the statement said.

20 May 2021; MEMO: Palestinian resistance group Hamas is willing to agree to a conditional ceasefire, ABC News has reported citing a senior official, but the Israelis have no interest in ending their onslaught on the besieged Gaza Strip.

The latest figures show that more than 230 people have died including 65 children, 35 women and 16 elderly people, while a further 1,700 have been injured during the Israeli offensive which began on 10 May. Twelve Israelis are also said to have been killed by.

Israeli air strike damages main telecom cable in Gaza

20 May 2021; MEMO: An Israeli air strike damaged the main fibre optic cable in the Gaza Strip on Wednesday. The cable connects the southern cities of the territory with the central zone, where telephone and internet connections were affected.

According to the Palestinian Telecommunication Company (Paltel), the damage can be repaired "very soon". However, if the infrastructure is damaged even further, there will be a major problem.

65 Palestinian children killed in Israel bombing of Gaza

20 May 2021; MEMO: Israeli occupation forces have killed 230 Palestinians in Gaza since start of ongoing offensive on 10 May, including 65 children, the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza said today.

Among the dead, the Ministry of Health said, were 39 women and 17 elderly people, who were mostly killed in air strikes that hit their homes without warning while they were inside.

Israel’s Netanyahu ‘determined’ to continue Gaza operation

Fatah's Al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades hold march in Ramallah for first time in 16 years

19 May 2021; MEMO: For the first time in 16 years, the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, affiliated with the Palestinian Fatah movement, organised a march in occupied Ramallah on Monday, denouncing Israel's ongoing aggression on the besieged Gaza Strip and the occupied West Bank.

The brigades walked through the streets of Ramallah firing bullets into the air and came under attack from Israeli occupation forces near the Qalandia checkpoint, leading occupation forces to close the checkpoint.

Main COVID-19 testing center in Gaza damaged due to Israeli airstrikes

GAZA, May 18 (Xinhua) -- The main COVID-19 testing center in Gaza city was damaged due to intensive Israeli fighter jet strikes waged on the Gaza Strip, a Palestinian health official said Tuesday.

Yousef Abu al-Reesh, health ministry director-general in Gaza, told reporters that the COVID-19 testing center in the Remal neighborhood in western Gaza city has completely stopped operating due to the Israeli airstrikes on the area.

Palestinians go on strike as Israel-Hamas fighting rages

GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip (AP) — Palestinians across Israel and the occupied territories went on strike in a rare collective protest Tuesday as Israeli missiles toppled a building in Gaza and militants in the Hamas-ruled territory fired dozens of rockets that killed two people.

The demonstrations and ongoing violence came as moves toward a cease-fire appeared to be gaining more traction.

Mediators should adopt our conditions: Hamas

18 May 2021; MEMO: Senior Hamas leader Mousa Abu Marzook said that ceasefire mediation has not succeeded so far, stressing that any successes would be after Hamas' conditions are accepted.

Speaking to Al Jazeera Mubasher, Abu Marzook said: "Mediation has not succeeded yet; if they succeeded, they would have adopted our conditions, not Israel's conditions."
