India: Onions worth Rs 30k stolen in MP

Mandsaur (MP), Dec 3 (PTI) A farmer has alleged that thieves harvested and carted away seven quintals of onions worth over Rs 30,000 from his field in Mandsaur in Madhya Pradesh, police said on Tuesday.

Onions, now the staple of political debates besides the kitchen due to its skyrocketing prices, are retailing at Rs 100-120 per kilogram across the country.

India: BJP should accept Sabarimala like they accepted Ayodhya ruling

Bhopal, Nov 14 (PTI) Senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh said on Thursday that the RSS and the BJP should accept the Supreme Court's decision in the Sabarimala temple case just as they did in the Ayodhya matter.

He was reacting to the apex court's decision to refer the Sabarimala and similar religious issues to a larger bench.

India: MP Man gets life imprisonment for raping 6-year-old girl

Bhopal, Nov 11 (PTI) A 40-year-old man was given life imprisonment on Monday for raping a six-year-old girl a year ago at Jatkhedi area in the state capital, a district prosecution official said.

Additional session judge Vandana Jain convicted Peetamber under IPC section 376 (2) and relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

India: Ayodhya verdict: 10 held for provocative behaviour in MP

Gwalior/Seoni (MP), Nov 10 (PTI) Eight people were arrested in Seoni and two in Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh for posting objectionable messages on social media and bursting crackers after Supreme Court's Aypodhya verdict, police said on Sunday.

In Gwalior, Dinesh Singh Chauhan (27) was arrested on Saturday night after his objectionable Whatsapp post was found by a police team monitoring social media chats, said Bahodapur police station in charge YS Tomar.

India: Internet services suspended in 4 MP districts during Muslim festival

Bhopal, Nov 10 (PTI) Internet services in four districts in Madhya Pradesh's Bundelkh and region were suspended from midnight on Sunday after people there wanted to take out processions to mark Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi despite a ban by authorities, police said.

Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi, the birthday of Prophet Mohammed, is being celebrated across the country on Sunday.

Internet services would resume in a few hours time by midnight Monday, Additional Director General of Police, Intelligence, SW Naqvi told PTI.

India: Permission to hold rallies cancelled by Bhopal admin

Bhopal, Nov 9 (PTI) In the wake of the supreme court verdict on the Ayodhya dispute, the Bhopal district administration on Saturday cancelled permissions it had granted earlier for organising processions and protests till November 30.

The Supreme Court in a historic verdict on Saturday backed the construction of a Ram temple by a trust at the disputed site in Ayodhya, and ruled that an alternative five-acre plot must be found for a mosque in the Hindu holy town.

India: Dalit woman gang-raped in MP

Shajapur (MP), Nov 6 (PTI) A 35-year-old Dalit woman was allegedly raped by four men, including two wardens of the Sarangpur sub-jail, in Rajgarh district of Madhya Pradesh on November 1, police said on Wednesday.

One of the accused wardens had allegedly asked the woman over phone to visit the sub-jail in Rajgarh district claiming that her husband, who is lodged in the facility, had taken ill, a police officer said.

"The woman informed the warden that she won't be able to visit the jail as she had no means of transport available.

India: Three get life sentence for rape of five-year-old

Gwalior (MP), Nov 2 (PTI) A court here has sentenced three people to life imprisonment for the repeated rape of a five-year-old girl and also imposed a fine of Rs 99,000 on the convicts, a major part of which will be given to the survivor.

Special judge Archana Singh convicted on Friday three persons, including the minor's sister, brother-in-law and a neighbour, for rape and under provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, public prosecutor Anil Mishra said on Saturday.

India: Synthetic milk racket busted in Madhya Pradesh

Neemuch (MP), Oct 23 (PTI) A synthetic milk production unit that allegedly supplied thousands of litres of the adulterated liquid was raided at Rampura here, an official said on Wednesday.

Acting on a tip-off, the district administration and food department officials raided Mahavir Dairy, owned by Raju Gujar (42), at Rampura in Madhya Pradesh's Neemuch district, additional district magistrate Vinay Dhoka said.

The authorities seized palm oil, detergent powder and chemicals used to produce synthetic milk, he added.
