India: minor's rape-murder: Accused sent to judicial custody

Bhopal, Jun 11 (PTI) A special court here on Tuesday sent a man accused of raping and killing an eight-year-old girl to judicial custody for a day.

Vishnu Bamora (35) was produced before Special Judge Suresh Singh by Kamla Nagar police, said Sudha Vijay Singh Bhadoriya, Special Public Prosecutor for the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

India: Eight-year-old girl gang-raped in MP

Singrauli, Jun 12 (PTI) An eight-year-old girl was allegedly raped by two boys at a village in Singrauli district of Madhya Pradesh, police said Wednesday.

The incident occurred under the jurisdiction of Sarai police station, 60 kms from the district headquarters, on Tuesday and the two minor accused were detained Wednesday, police said.

Indore, Jun 12 (PTI) Confusion prevailed at the BJP- controlled Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) when the recital of the national anthem 'Jana gana mana' was abruptly stopped by its members on Wednesday for singing of 'Vande Mataram'.

A video clip of the incident has gone viral on social media here, in which Mayor Malini Gaud, who is also a local BJP MLA, is also visible.

India: Minor raped, killed in Bhopal; 6 cops suspended; accused identified

Bhopal, June 9 (PTI) The body of an eight-year-old girl, who was allegedly raped, was found near a drain in Bhopal on Sunday, police said.

Preliminary investigations revealed she died of strangulation after being raped, an officer said.

Six police officials have been suspended for dereliction of duty and a reward of Rs 20,000 has been declared for providing information to nab the accused, officials said.

India: Boy held for sexually assaulting four-year-old girl

Jabalpur (MP), Jun 9 (PTI) A 16-year-old boy was arrested for allegedly having unnatural sex with a four-year- old girl here on Sunday, a police official said.

The incident occurred under Sihora police station area, about 40 kms from the district headquarters.

Sihora police station in-charge, Mahendra Singh Rajput, said the incident took place in the afternoon, when the boy found the girl playing outside her house.

"He took the girl to a vacant house and committed the act of unnatural sex," Rajput said.

The girl had ventured out of her house in Kamla Nagar area of the state capital around 8 pm on Saturday to buy something. When she did not return, her family members approached the police, the official said.

Gwalior (MP), Jun 2 (PTI) Want a gun license? Plant trees and shoot a selfie -- this is the new rule in Madhya Pradesh's Gwalior-Chambal region, known for its infatuation with firearms.

An exception will be made only if the license is sought because of an immediate threat to the applicant's life.

"Gun license seekers will need to plant at least ten saplings. If the person does not own land, the administration has earmarked revenue land where he or she can plant saplings," said Gwalior district collector Anurag Choudhary.

India: Madhya Pradesh: 33 IAS, 37 IPS officers transferred

Bhopal, Jun 2 (PTI) In a major administrative reshuffle, the Congress government in Madhya Pradesh has transferred 33 IAS and 37 IPS officers, including collectors of 15 districts and Superintendent of Police (SP) of as many districts in the state.

As per the order issued post-midnight on Saturday, Bhopal collector Sudam P Khade was transferred as additional secretary in the state secretariat, although nobody was appointed in his place, a state government official said.

India: Dog saves his master's life from tiger

Seoni (MP), Jun 1 (PTI) A dog saved his owner's life by forcing a tiger to retreat in Seoni district of Madhya Pradesh Saturday.

Pancham Gajba (22) and his brother were returning from a jungle near Paraspani village in the morning after attending nature's call when the incident took place, said Divisional Forest Officer T S Suliya.

As he was breaking off a tree branch, a tiger jumped out from bushes and attacked him, Gajba told reporters. His brother was some distance away.

His dog, however, didn't scamper away but started barking ferociously.

India: Man held for raping three daughters

Indore, May 30 (PTI) A 45-year-old man was arrested from Khajrana area in the city for allegedly repeatedly raping his three daughters, two of them minors, police said on Thursday.

The accused was arrested on Wednesday, police said, adding that he was Thursday produced before a court, which remanded him in judicial custody till June 12.

"We arrested the accused for raping his three daughters aged 15, 17 and 19. He had been sexually assaulting them for the last four years by threatening them with a sword," police inspector Pritam Singh Thakur said.
