India: Nationalism based on subjective perceptions on rise: IPS

Nagpur, Mar 10 (PTI) IPS officer Sandeep Tamgadge Sunday claimed the rise of a "new kind" of nationalism, which he said is based on subjective perceptions.

Speaking at the 'Madhukarrao Tamgadge memorial' scholarship programme 2019-20 here, Tamgadge, who serves as the Inspector General of Police (IGP) in Nagaland, also questionned "silence" of a section of Dalits on the issue of the freedom of speech.

India: Make details of Balakot air strike public: Kamal Nath

Bhopal, Mar 7 (PTI) The NDAgovernment should clear the air over the last month's aerial strike on a terrorist camp in Pakistan to put to rest all "doubts and suspicions" over the operation, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath said Thursday.

He said details related to the February 26 aerial strike by the Indian Air Force on a terror camp run by the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) at Balakot in Pakistan should be made public.

Indore gets 'cleanest city' tag for third straight year

New Delhi, Mar 6 (PTI) Indore was Wednesday adjudged India's cleanest city for the third straight year in the central government's cleanliness survey.

The Swachh Survekshan awards 2019 were conferred by President Ram Nath Kovind at a ceremony here.

While the New Delhi Municipal Council area was given the 'Cleanest Small City' award, Uttarakhand's Gauchar was adjudged the 'Best Ganga Town' in the central government survey.

The cleanliness awards are given by the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.

India: It took them 21 yrs to arrest rapist of Jhabua nuns

Jhabua, Mar 5 (PTI) Twenty one years after four nuns were raped by 26 persons in Jhabua district of Madhya Pradesh, a 45-year-old absconding accused in the case has been nabbed, police said Tuesday.

Kalu Limji was arrested from Aamba village in the district Monday, a police official said.

In September 1998, the accused, mostly tribals, raped the nuns at the Priti Sharan Mission at Naupara village in the predominantly tribal district. Nauapara is 25 km from the district headquarters.

India: 10-yr-old girl raped, killed in MP; body dumped in tank

Katni, Feb 3 (PTI) A 10-year-old girl was allegedly raped and killed and the body dumped in an unused biogas tank in Katni district of Madhya Pradesh, police said on Sunday.

After a foul smell emanated from the tank located underground in Barhi area, around 80 km from here, a farmer looked into it on Saturday and spotted the body, Katni's Additional Superintendent of Police Sandeep Mishra said.

"The post-mortem report confirmed the girl was raped and throttled to death before the body was dumped," he said.

India: Teenage girl raped in MP's Sagar

Sagar (MP), Mar 3 (PTI) Three persons were arrested for allegedly raping a 16-year-old girl in Madhya Pradesh's Sagar district, a senior police official said Sunday.

A fourth accused is still at large and efforts were underway to nab him, the official added.

Sagar Superintendent of Police Amit Sanghi said the girl and her grandfather were on their way to a temple on a hillock on the outskirts of the city when the four accused obstructed their way, assaulted the elderly man and raped the victim.

India: Three held for robbery, gangrape

Jabalpur, Feb 25 (PTI) Three men were arrested Monday in Madhya Pradesh for allegedly committing a series of crimes, including rape, over the last eight days in Jabalpur and Katni districts, police said.

The trio, identified as Mahendra Patel (23), Suraj Dumar (21) and Raju Thapa (25) were picked up from Khamaria area of Jabalpur, said district superintendent of police Amit Singh.

He said the trio are habitual offenders.

India: MP govt rolls out 100-day employment scheme for youths

Bhopal, Feb 22 (PTI) The Congress government in Madhya Pradesh Friday rolled out its flagship 'Mukhyamantri Yuva Swabhiman Yojana' that guarantees 100 days of employment every year to urban youths from economically weaker sections (EWS).

The scheme, as part of which youths would be imparted skill development training, was launched by Chief Minister Kamal Nath here.

India: Man kills son for not serving him chicken meat

Dhar (MP), Feb 18 (PTI) Irked over not being served chicken meat in his meal, a 60-year-old man allegedly killed his 32-year-old son in Dhar district of Madhya Pradesh Monday, police said.

Accused Chhotu Baghel stabbed his son Hira Singh to death in a fit of rage at their residence in Kharwali village, around 90 kms from here, after the latter ate chicken meat himself this morning, said Tanda police station in-charge MT Baig.

The wife of the deceased said that Chhotu was angry after Hira didn't share the meat with him.

India: MP govt transfers 221 cops, including 34 IPS officers

Bhopal, Feb 9 (PTI) The Congress-led Madhya Pradesh government has transferred 221 police personnel, comprising 34 Indian Police Service (IPS) and 187 state police service (SPS) officials, across the state.

The transfers were announced in two orders issued by the state's Home department on Friday evening and Saturday morning.

According to the circular, the 187 SPS officers transferred comprise 35 Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) and 152 Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) rank officials.
