Israel blockade costing Jericho in occupied West Bank $70m in losses

05 May 2023; MEMO: The Palestinian city of Jericho in the northern occupied West Bank has incurred huge economic losses estimated in the millions of dollars due to the suffocating Israeli blockade imposed on the city since February.

Local sources said Israeli occupation forces continue to erect military checkpoints at the main entrances to the city and the surrounding refugee camps and have closed the military checkpoint at the southern entrance, which has delayed citizens and impeded their movement.

Israel forces murder 2 Palestinians in occupied West Bank

06 May 2023; MEMO: Israeli occupation forces murdered two Palestinian youths in Nur Shams refugee camp in the northern West Bank city of Tulkarm on Saturday morning.

This came in a raid carried out by the Israeli occupation forces and undercover border police, the Israeli occupation army announced in a statement.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health shared that the two youths were brought deceased to a hospital in Tulkarm, and a third was brought with injuries to the limbs and in stable condition.

04 May 2023; MEMO: Mass demonstrations and civil disobedience actions have continued across Israel against the controversial judicial reform plan and right-wing policies of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's government, Anadolu News Agency reports.

Thousands of Israelis joined for the 18th week several rallies across Israel to protest controversial government plans to change the judicial system.

Demonstrators gathered at the protests in Tel Aviv, Haifa, Kfar Saba, and Netanya.

EU calls for 'transparent investigation' into death of Palestinian prisoner

02 May 2023; MEMO: The European Union calls on Israeli authorities to investigate the death of Palestinian prisoner, Khader Adnan, an EU official said on Tuesday, Anadolu News Agency reports.

"The European Union has engaged with Israeli authorities on the case of Mr. Adnan, including the Ministry of Health, to inquire the Israeli state about his condition," Peter Stano, the European Commission's lead spokesperson on Foreign Affairs, told reporters.

ICRC urges Israel to release Palestinian detainee's body

02 May 2023; MEMO: The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), on Tuesday, called on the Israeli authorities to release the body of Palestinian hunger striker, Khader Adnan, Anadolu News Agency reports.

Adnan, a senior Islamic Jihad group member, died in prison on Tuesday, after 86 days of hunger strike in protest of his detention.
