America commits widespread crimes against humanity: Gharibabadi

Tehran (ISNA) – The secretary of Iran's High Council for Human Rights Kazem Gharibabadi said that the atrocities of the US against nations are unprecedented during the human history.

Kazem Gharibabadi declared, "In domestic arena, people should know that what crimes America has committed against us because its crimes have directly targeted our people. We should remind repeatedly this issue and the matter is nothing to do with our macro policies with the US. The one who commits crimes should be highlighted and we would go after with them".

UN commemorates Palestine Nakba for first time

15 May 2023; MEMO: For the first time in its history, the UN General Assembly is commemorating the Palestine Nakba today, UN and Palestinian sources said.

"This year marks the 75th anniversary of the mass displacement of Palestinians known as 'the Nakba' or 'the Catastrophe,'" the UN said in a statement posted on its official website.

USA: Journalist Shireen Abu Akleh honored at vigil outside White House

12 May 2023; AA: A group of activists and journalists held a candlelight vigil Thursday outside the White House in Washington, D.C. to honor Palestinian-American journalist Shireen Abu Akleh, who was shot dead on May 11 last year while reporting on an Israeli military raid. 

The vigil, organized by the Palestinian Youth Movement and the Museum of the Palestinian People, was attended by many activists and Abu Akleh's friends as well as colleagues from Al Jazeera, who demanded justice and accountability for her.

Hamas chief discusses Gaza attacks with Iran FM

13 May 2023; MEMO: Head of Hamas Political Bureau Ismail Haniyeh discussed the ongoing Israeli offensive on the besieged Gaza Strip with Iran's Minister of Foreign Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian on Friday.

This came in a telephone call made by Ami-Abdollahian to Haniyeh through which the former conveyed the solidarity of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi with the Palestinian people and resistance.

Israel military apologises for killing American journalist Akleh, a year after shooting

13 May 2023; MEMO: Israel's military has apologised for its killing of Al Jazeera journalist Shireen Abu Akleh, after a year of denial of its responsibility for the shooting.

Shireen Abu Akleh, the correspondent who covered the West Bank for Al Jazeera for two decades, was shot in the back of the head while covering an Israeli military raid in the West Bank city of Jenin last May.

EU describes Israel's bombing of Gaza as 'intolerable'

12 May 2023; MEMO: The European Union has described Israel's indiscriminate bombardment of the besieged Gaza Strip as "intolerable," calling on Tel Aviv to prevent civilian casualties, Anadolu news agency reported.

"The European Union is deeply concerned by the escalation of violence in recent days in Israel and the occupied Palestinian territory," said European Commission spokesperson Peter Stano, at a press conference held in the Belgian capital, Brussels, Thursday.

Israel continues pounding Gaza as ceasefire talks fail

13 May 2023; MEMO: Israeli occupation fighters have carried out six airstrikes across the besieged Gaza Strip since early Saturday morning as ceasefire talks stall.

Following a security assessment on Friday evening, Israeli security officials recommended the end of the Israeli offensive on Gaza.

The security assessment came after 13 hours of calm, without rocket fire from Gaza nor airstrikes and artillery shelling by Israel.
