If passed, the move will entrench the principle of Jewish supremacy deeper than it already is in the policies and practices of Israel. According to Haaretz, the Israeli cabinet is supposed to decide whether to advance the resolution and, if so, how, tonight.

Israel settlers burn Palestinian house in occupied West Bank

26 Apr 2023; MEMO: Israeli settlers set fire to a Palestinian house in the West Bank on Wednesday, in the latest attack on Palestinian properties in the Occupied Territory, according to a local official, Anadolu News Agency reports.

"The entire house was destroyed in the fire," Ghassan Daghlas, who is in charge of monitoring settlement building in the northern West Bank, told Anadolu.

Russia: Israel's unilateral measures main reason for conflict with Palestinians

26 Apr 2023; MEMO: Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said yesterday that the main reason for violence in the occupied territories is Israel's unilateral measures, international news agencies reported.

In a speech at the UN Security Council meeting on the Palestinian issue, Lavrov said that the main reason for the outbreak of violence is Israel's unilateral measures to create facts on the ground and use force to protect them.

Blind Palestinian scholar starts hunger strike inside Israel jail

25 Apr 2023; MEMO: Sheikh Izzedine Amarneh, a blind Islamic religious scholar, has started a hunger strike in protest against his administrative detention by the Israeli occupation, his family announced yesterday.

Amarneh, who has recently received his doctorate from a university in Malaysia, was detained during a raid on his family house in Yabad, near the occupied West Bank city of Jenin, on 21 February 2022.

23 Apr 2023; MEMO: Germany's Foreign Minister has warned against Tunisia's backtrack on democracy, as president Kais Saied continues to suppress the country's opposition and solidify his power following his coup two years ago.

Tunisia's main opposition leader Rached Ghannouchi was arrested on Monday this week, following comments that to eradicate different viewpoints in Tunisian politics and society, such as the leftism or political Islam, may lead to a "civil war".

US transfers Guantanamo detainee to Algeria; 30 remain in prison

20 Apr 2023; MEMO: The US announced, Thursday, the transfer of long time Guantanamo Bay detainee, Said bin Brahim bin Umran Bakush, to his home country of Algeria, Anadolu News Agency reports.

Secretary of Defence, Lloyd Austin, informed Congress of his intent to transfer Bakush to Algeria in February, the Pentagon said in a statement. A panel that reviews individual cases determined, 13 April, that it was no longer necessary to hold Bakush at the controversial prison, setting the stage for his release.
