India: BJP had arranged chartered planes to move Cong MLAs to Bengaluru: Digvijay

Bhopal, Mar 10 (PTI) Senior Congress leader Digvijay Singh on Tuesday parried questions on the exact number of MLAs supporting the party in Madhya Pradesh amid a political crisis triggered by the resignation of Jyotiraditya Scindia and 14 MLAs loyal to him.

Repeating his allegation that the BJP was trying to destabilise the Congress-led government, Singh told reporters that the BJP had arranged three chartered planes for Bengaluru on Monday to fly out some MLAs loyal to Scindia.

"We want to know why Bengaluru is used everytime to destabilise governments?" he questionned.

Bengaluru, Mar 10 (PTI) Referring to the rebellion in Madhya Pradesh Congress, the party's Karnataka unit chief Dinesh Gundu Rao on Tuesday said it was time for Rahul Gandhi to lead the party from the front and make drastic changes at the top.

India: Dalit youth shot at in UP's Banda

Banda, Mar 10 (PTI) A Dalit youth sustained injuries after he was shot at Taraya village in the Baberu police station here on Tuesday, an official said.

Circle Officer Baberu Rajiv Pratap Singh said, "Dalit youth Pitu Shrivas (26) on Tuesday had gone to answer nature's call when he was shot at. He sustained injuries. The injured youth was sent to a community health centre from where he was sent to the district hospital for treatment."

India: Another Congress MLA quits in MP, number rises to 20

Bhopal, Mar 10 (PTI) The number of MLAs who have resigned from the Congress in Madhya Pradesh climbed to 20 on Tuesday afternoon with another legislator quitting the ruling party, sources said.

While 19 MLAs, most of them believed to be loyal to expelled party leader Jyotiraditya Scindia, have sent their resignation letters via e-mail to Raj Bhavan, Bisahulal Singh submitted his resignation letter as an MLA to the Assembly speaker.

India: Rupee slips below 74 against USD

Mumbai, Mar 9 (PTI) The Indian rupee continued its downward journey on Monday, sliding another 16 paise to 74.03 against the US dollar in opening trade, tracking weak opening in domestic equities amid mounting fears of a coronavirus-led economic slowdown.

Forex traders said weak opening in domestic equities and foreign fund outflows dragged the local unit.

India: Sena slams BJP for criticising Thackeray over Ayodhya visit

Mumbai, Mar 9 (PTI) The Shiv Sena on Monday termed the BJP as the "real hypocrite" for criticising Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray over his Ayodhya visit, saying this exposes the "evil intentions" of its former ally.

An editorial in Sena mouthpiece 'Saamana' said the opposition in Maharashtra is baffled because the Shiv Sena, despite joining hands with its ideological opponent Congress, has not distanced itself from 'Hindutva'.
