India: Stones pelted at UP bus with Ravish Kumar on board

Gorakhpur (UP), Feb 5 (PTI) Unidentified people pelted stones at a UP government bus, injuring a passenger, police said here on Wednesday.

Ramon Magsaysay award-winning journalist Ravish Kumar was among those on the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation bus that was attacked while passing through the Kusmhi jungle area on Tuesday night.

India: BJP local leaders held with arms

Barddhaman (WB), Feb 5 (PTI) Two local leaders and as many workers of the BJP were arrested with arms and ammunition from Purba Barddhaman district, police said on Wednesday.

They were allegedly carrying a country-made gun, three bullets, four bombs, a sword, a bow and a number of arrows in a car which was parked by the side of a road in Jamalpur area on Tuesday night, police said.

The four were remanded to police custody by a local court where their counsel claimed that they were implicated in a false case.

India: If Kejriwal is terrorist, arrest him: AAP dares BJP

New Delhi, Feb 5 (PTI) If the BJP thinks Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is a "terrorist", he should be arrested and sent to jail, Aam Aadmi Party MP Sanjay Singh dared the Modi government in Rajya Sabha on Wednesday.

Launching a scathing attack on the BJP during the debate on Motion of Thanks to the President's address, Singh accused the BJP of vitiating the election atmosphere in Delhi and spreading hate in its poll campaign.

"They are calling an elected chief minister terrorist.... If Arvind Kejriwal is a terrorist, arrest him and put him in jail," Singh said.

India: Three foreign nationals among 2528 under Coronavirus observation in Kerala

Thiruvananthapuram, Feb 5 (PTI) The Kerala government on Wednesday said three foreign nationals were among the 2,528 people under observation in the state for the novel coronavirus infection and no new cases have been reported.

At least 93 people with minor symptoms of the virus have been lodged in isolation wards of various hospitals, state Health Minister K K Shailaja told reporters here.

Mumbai, Feb 5 (PTI) At least 17 persons including a senior advocate, activists and journalists were arrested by the police in connection with a protest at the Gateway of India here last month against the violence at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), an official said on Wednesday.

All of them were released on bail after arrest for alleged unlawful assembly.

Trials of Russia’s newest Koalitsiya-SV self-propelled gun to be completed in 2022

LUCKNOW /India/, February 6. /TASS/: The trials of Russia’s Koalitsiya-SV self-propelled gun (SPG) will be completed in 2022, the press service of the gun’s manufacturer Uralvagonzavod told TASS on Thursday during the DefExpo 2020 exhibition in India’s Lucknow.

"Trials of the 152-mm Koalitsiya-SV self-propelled gun are envisaged to be completed in 2022," the press service said.

The press service did not elaborate on when the weapon is expected to enter service, saying that the issue "is within the competence of the Russian Defense Ministry."
