India: Mamata slams Adityanath for his 'goli vs boli' remark

Kolkata, Feb 3 (PTI) Slamming her Uttar Pradesh counterpart Yogi Adityanath for his recent "goli vs boli" remark, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday said India was facing a "dangerous situation" as persons holding constitutional positions were busy spreading hate.

She also claimed that the BJP indulged in communal politics, as and when elections were around.

India: 10-yr-old girl raped by man in Jaipur

Jaipur, Feb 3 (PTI) A 10-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a man at the engagement ceremony of her relative here, police said on Monday.

The accused was identified as Raju (36), who had set up a food stall at the function on Sunday night, they said.

The accused took the girl to a toilet and raped her, the police said.

India: Rape case filed against BJP leader in Telangana

Hyderabad, Feb 3 (PTI): A case has been registered against an advocate, also a local BJP leader in Telangana for allegedly raping a woman in 2007, police said on Monday.

The 47-year old woman filed a complaint alleging that she was raped by the advocate M Raghunandan Rao, following which a case of rape was registered against him, police said.

India: No decision yet on NRC at national level: MoS Home

New Delhi, Feb 4 (PTI) The government has not taken any decision on preparing a nationwide NRC, it reiterated in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday, amid protests against the citizens' register in the country.

"Till now, the government has not taken any decision to prepare the National Register of Indian Citizens at the national level," Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai said replying a written question.

India: Man sentenced to 20 yrs' RI for raping minor girl

Balasore, Jan 4 (PTI) A man has been sentenced to 20 years' rigorous imprisonment by a special POCSO court for raping a 12-year-old girl in Odisha's Balasore district around three years ago.

Additional District and Sessions Judge (ADJ) Girija Mohapatra, while pronouncing the jail term for Radhamohan Singh (20) on Monday, also slapped a fine of Rs 28,000 on him for the April 2017 incident at Balidhar village here.

India: 10-year-old girl abducted, raped in Rajasthan

Jaipur, Feb 4 (PTI) A 10-year-old girl was allegedly abducted and raped by a man in Rajasthan's Churu district, the police said on Tuesday.

The incident took place in Rajgarh police station area in Churu on Monday night and a first information report (FIR) was registered on Tuesday against the accused, Akbar Khan, who is a neighbour of the minor, they said.

India: MU Proctor resigns from post

Aligarh (UP), Feb 4 (PTI) Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) Proctor Prof Afifullah Khan on Tuesday resigned from his post, though he did not specify any reasons for the decision.

He stepped down days after the university's Students Coordination Committee demanded resignation of top university officials, including the Proctor, "on moral grounds" in the wake of the campus violence on December 15.

India: Probe into sedition case against school for insulting Modi in drama

Bidar(Karnataka), Feb 4 (PTI) The police has intensified investigation into the 'sedition case' against the management and staff of a school here, where children had allegedly insulted Prime Minister Narendra Modi and others, in the context of CAA, in a drama they staged on January 21.

As part of the probe, the police visited Shaheen school on Tuesday -- this time in plain clothes, after their questioning of children in uniform on January 28 drew criticism from some quarters, a school official said.

India: BJP asks 240 MPs to campaign in Delhi colonies

New Delhi, Feb 4 (PTI) With only three days left for the Delhi poll campaign to end, the BJP has drafted its 240 MPs in its push to capture power in the national capital and asked them to campaign for the party in colonies populated mostly by poor voters.

BJP president J P Nadda made the announcement at its parliamentary party meeting on Tuesday, party sources said.
