Rich politicians registered in poor health beneficiaries

KANPUR: Ayushman Bharat Yojna has been launched for the poor’s free medical facility up to rupees five lakhs.

Surprisingly, Kanpur city’s eminent and rich political leaders have been included in the list of scheme  beneficiaries.

Leaders whose names were found in the list are; Satish Mahana, Devendra Singh Bhole’s brother, Salil Bishnoi and Ajay Kapoor.

Protesting farmers not 'satisfied' with govt assurance: Tikait

Ghaziabad, Oct 2 (PTI) As thousands of farmers tried to enter the national capital in a massive protest march, the government Tuesday announced that a committee of chief ministers will look into their demands, even as the protesters stayed put saying they were not "satisfied" with the assurance.

After meeting the protesting farmers at the Delhi-UP border here, Union Minister of State for Agriculture Gajendra Singh Shekhawat said the government was assuring the farmers to take forward their cause.

Thousands of farmers march towards Delhi

Ghaziabad, Oct 2 (PTI) Thousands of farmers Tuesday marched towards Delhi over demands ranging from farm loan waiver to cut in fuel prices, blocking traffic movement on arterial roads leading to the national capital.

National Highways leading to the national capital were swamped with farmers who came in from places as far as Gonda, Basti and Gorakhpur in eastern Uttar Pradesh as well as the sugarcane belt of western Uttar Pradesh.

Farmers stopped at Delhi-UP border; police use water cannons, tear gas

New Delhi, Oct 2 (PTI) Farmers marching towards Delhi as part of the Bharatiya Kisan Union's (BKU) protest call over demands ranging from farm loan waiver to cut in fuel prices,

were stopped at the Delhi-Uttar Pradesh border Tuesday with police using water cannons to disperse them.

The farmers, riding tractors and trolleys, broke barricades of the UP Police and then started proceeding towards the barricades put up by the Delhi Police, a senior police officer said.

Girl gang raped in Mahoba

A girl was tricked for a job offer then gang raped by three men. According to FIR lodged with Shekhu Nagar police station, a Mahoba woman called the girl from Kanpur for a job opportunity. Woman asked the girl to stay at her house and promised to organise a job for her next morning.

On Sunday evening, woman left the house telling the girl that she is going to bring some food, leaving her behind with three men, Raghu, Akash and Dhirendra.

PWD, KDA to repair roads

KANPUR: The Public Works Department and the Kanpur Development Authority will take on the task of repairing potholes on the city roads.

One road extends from Ratanlal Nagar-Shastri Chowk-Sachhan Guest House-Kendrachal Colony to Kidwai Nagar Road. Another road stretches from Rocket Tiraha-Meghdoot Trihaa-Bada Churaha-Chunniganj-Govindpuri Pul, up to Barra By-pass. Yet another one starts from Hamirpur road-Deputy Padav-Afeem Kothi to Baradevi Naubasta.

Married woman raped at gunpoint in UP

Muzaffarnagar, Sep 29 : A 26-year-old married woman was allegedly raped by her neighbour at gunpoint when she was alone in her house in a village in Shamli district, police said Saturday.

Circle Officer Rajesh Kumar Tiwari said the incident occurred at Jandheri village under Kairana Police Station Friday.

According to complaint lodged by the victim's husband, their neighbour, Gaurav Kumar, 27, entered the house in his absence and raped her at gunpoint, the CO said.

Tanneries to be closed for Kumbh Mela

KANPUR: In view of forthcoming Kumbh Mela on Sangam in Allahabad, the leather tanneries in Jajmau will remain closed for three months.

This order was passed to make the Ganges clean.

A decision to this effect has been taken in a meeting chaired by Kalpana Awasthi, Principal Secretary (Environment). However, the UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will make the final decision, in a meeting to be held on October 5.

Bank manager held for removing Rs 18 lakh from ATM in UP

Muzaffarnagar, Sep 29 (PTI) A branch manager of the Overseas Bank was arrested in connection with alleged theft of Rs 18 lakh from an ATM in Shamli, police said Saturday.

Robin Bansal, who was absconding, was arrested Friday and more than Rs 14 lakh was seized from his possession, Superintendent of Police Dinesh Kumar said.
