India: Amid lack of beds and oxygen for humans, UP CM provides health equipment to cow shelters

Lucknow, May 6 (PTI) Amid the surge in coronavirus cases, the Uttar Pradesh government is providing oximeters and thermal scanners for cows housed in the state's gaushalas'.

That is what a government press release said. But an official later clarified that the medical equipment was meant for people who work at the gaushalas'.

India: Blood tests kits' shortage hampers sample report timely

Kanpur: Special kits are required for blood tests like d dimer, ferritin, CRP and LDH. But there is a problem with the supply of these kits. This causes a delay in the doctor reports of the test.

According to available news, the patients have to wait for a week. As the Hallet hospital has been conducting the test with the lasting kits, it causes delay in the test reports.

City's Hallet hospital and a few selected labs conduct these kinds of blood tests which unfold the infection among the patients.

India: UP BJP leader Bhavani Singh dies of Covid-19

Lucknow, May 5 (PTI) Uttar Pradesh BJP Joint general secretary (organisation) Bhavani Singh died of Covid-19 on Wednesday, party leaders said.

He was 54.

BJP leaders in the state said Singh had tested positive for the virus a few days ago and was admitted to the SGPGI in Lucknow.

But after his condition deteriorated there, he was rushed to a Hyderabad hospital by an air ambulance on Monday, where he died on Wednesday, they said.

India: 2 killed in blast at oxygen plant in Lucknow

Lucknow, May 5 (PTI) Two people died and two others got seriously injured after an oxygen cylinder exploded during the refilling process here on Wednesday, police said.

The incident took place at an oxygen plant in the Chinhat area of the city, Station House Officer (SHO) Dhananjay Pandey said, adding efforts were on to ascertain the identity of the victims, who died on the spot.

Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took cognizance of the incident and expressed grief over the loss of lives.

India: Covid deaths due to lack of oxygen is “not less than a genocide”: Allahabad HC

Allahabad; 05 May 2021 (UMMN): While hearing a PIL, judges of the Allahabad High Court on Tuesday made the observations that Covid-19 patients dying due to oxygen shortage is “is a criminal act and not less than a genocide”.

The court observed that “death of Covid patients just for non-supplying of oxygen to the hospitals is a criminal act and not less than a genocide” by those responsible for ensuring the continuous procurement and supply of medical oxygen.

India: Actor Pia Bajpiee's brother passes away in UP hours after request for ventilator, bed

Mumbai, May 4 (PTI) Actor Pia Bajpiee on Tuesday said her brother passed away after a frantic search for ventilator beds in Farrukhabad, Uttar Pradesh.

Bajpiee, who predominantly works in Tamil and Telugu cinema, took to Twitter and posted an SOS call, writing that she urgently required a ventilator bed as her brother was "dying". She didn't specify if he had COVID-19.

India: Drinking water availability manageable through temporary dam

Kanpur: As the water level in the Ganga river is going down during this summer, temporary bandh supports the drinking water supply. Lalmani Tripathi, executive engineer, Jalkal said temporary bandh has made easier availability of raw water from Ganga river.

The water level in the river was measured at 355.5 feet on Tuesday.

The bandh solidified with sandbags was raised up to 110 meters on the Shuklaganj side within 14 days, though it was to get the height up to 200 meters.

India: Woman jumps in front of train along with 3 kids in UP

Kaushambi (UP), May 4 (PTI) A woman, in her mid-thirties, allegedly committed suicide with her three children by jumping in front of a moving train here on Tuesday, police said.

The incident took place in the Saini area, they said, adding the train was going from Prayagraj to New Delhi.

The victims have not been identified yet.

The age of children was stated to be around two, five and 10 years, according to police.

The bodies have been sent for postmortem and probe in the matter is on.

India: Lockdown extension delays driving license paperwork

Kanpur: The desperate wait for obtaining a driving license prolongs with the extension of lockdown days. The state government has extended the duration in the wake of a spike in the Covid-19 virus. So the disposal of paperwork related to the license has been delayed.

Expressing their views on the delay the officials at RTO anticipated that work-related with the driving license would begin next week. In case of the lockdown does not extend further, the work will start as per the Headquarters order.
