India: Uttar Pradesh Board class 12 exams cancelled

Lucknow, Jun 3 (PTI) The Uttar Pradesh government on Thursday cancelled the class 12 board examination, with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath saying the health of children is a priority amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

The decision was taken at a meeting chaired by Adityanath in which Deputy Chief Minister Dinesh Sharma, who holds charge of the Secondary Education department, was also present.

India: Two oxygen plants to be set up at Hallet's LLR Hospital

KANPUR: An inspection of the Lala Lajpat Rai Hospital in Hallet by the company officials was conducted. As many as two oxygen plants will be set up to make the hospital totally self-sufficient in this case.

The spot where both the oxygen plants will be installed was also surveyed.

According to the information, one oxygen plant will supply the gas to all the Wards of the hospital. It will be set up near Ward number 5.

India: AMU pro-chancellor dies due to Covid complications

Aligarh (UP), Jun 2 (PTI) Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) Pro-chancellor Ibne Saeed Khan died at his home here due to Covid complications, his family said on Wednesday.

Khan, 98, passed away on Tuesday night, according to a release issued by the university.

He was the longest living alumnus of the AMU and had held several posts in different governing bodies of the university, including that of honorary treasurer for the past thirty years.

India: 16-yr-old girl raped in UP's Ballia

Ballia (UP), Jun 2 (PTI) A 16-year-old girl was allegedly raped by two youths in a village in Rasda area here, police said on Wednesday.

The incident took place on May 29 when the girl went to the fields to attend nature's call and Rajesh Yadav and Akash Yadav raped her, SHO, Rasda Nagesh Upadhyay said.

He said on the complaint of the girl, an FIR was registered against the two under relevant sections of the IPC and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

The accused are absconding, police said.

India: Man shoots dead wife over dowry in UP's Ghaziabad

Ghaziabad (UP), Jun 1 (PTI) A 24-year-old woman was shot dead on Tuesday by her husband for not bringing in enough dowry post their marriage in Raj Nagar Extension area here, police said.

Sarika (24), a native of Upawali village of Budhana tehsil in Muzaffarnagar district, got married to Kuldeep alias Mintoo in February last year.

India: Woman raped inside her house in UP's Fatehpur

Fatehpur (UP), Jun 2 (PTI) A woman was allegedly raped by man inside her house in Dhata area here, police said on Wednesday.

According to police, the woman, who is around 30-years-old, was sleeping in the lawn of her home on Monday when one Uday Pratap Singh (32) raped her.

An FIR in this matter was registered on Tuesday by the family members of the woman and the accused was arrested on Wednesday, SHO of Dhata Police Station Sher Singh Rajput said.

India: Men bury father's body in UP using excavator in viral clip

Gorakhpur, May 31 (PTI) A video clip in which three men can be seen burying a body wrapped in a plastic sheet with the help of an excavator, went viral on social media.

It was later found that the clip was captured in Parsa Shukl village in Sant Kabir Nagar district and three men were burying the body of their deceased father along with some packets and sheets, police said.

Village head Triyoganand Gautam said: We offered help to perform last rites of the man but his sons didn't accept it."

India: Hooch tragedy in UP's Aligarh: Death toll rises to 36

Aligarh (UP), May 31 (PTI) The toll in the Aligarh hooch tragedy climbed to 36 on Monday with 11 more deaths being confirmed by the district authorities amid apprehension that it may rise further.

Viscera samples of 35 other people, who are suspected to have died after consuming spurious liquor, have been sent for examination to confirm the cause of death, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr Bhanu Pratap Kalyani said.

India: Shops open for longer time in city's market

Kanpur: The spate of Corona in the city has been receding so the demand to open the market has been boosted. 

According to a recent report, only 25 cases of corona has been detected on Sunday in the city areas.

Therefore 69% of people favour opening the shops in the market. 

The state government has given relief by reducing the hours of lockdown. The shops remained open for a longer time on Monday. The public was moving in the market and running of vehicles was also seen. It was after a long time the shops were opened upto 7 p.m.

India: Six more COVID victims bodies found floating in Ganga in UP

Fatehpur (UP), May 31 (PTI) Six more bodies of suspected COVID-19 victims were found floating in the Ganga in Uttar Pradesh, an official said on Monday.

Fatehpur Sadar Tehsil Sub-Collector (SDM) Pramod Jha said he was informed about the bodies floating in the river on Sunday morning, following which a search operation was launched.

Six decomposed bodies were recovered from the river, he said.
