ISLAMABAD, Jul 10 (APP): Pakistan Ambassador to China, Moin ul Haque on Sunday warmly congratulated Muslims in Pakistan, China and the world over on the auspicious occasion of Eid ul Azha and wished them for health, happiness and prosperity.

“On this festive occasion of Eid ul Azha, I extend my heartiest greetings to those celebrating in Pakistan, China, and the world over – with best wishes for health, happiness and prosperity. While celebrating let’s also remember that this Eid is about care, compassion, sacrifice and sharing,” he said in a message released here.

Pakistan: TV anchor Imran Riaz released, days after arrest in capital

Lahore, Jul 10 (AP-PTI) A prominent Pakistani TV anchorperson was released Saturday following his arrest earlier this week near Islamabad and after a high court granted him bail in one case and dismissed other cases against him, a government attorney said.

Imran Riaz Khan was taken into custody on Tuesday even though weeks earlier a court in the Pakistani capital, Islamabad, had ordered police not to arrest him and several other journalists over complaints accusing them of inciting hatred against the country's powerful military.

6 killed, over 10 injured in bus-car collision in Pakistan's Punjab

ISLAMABAD, July 9 (Xinhua) -- At least six people were killed and over 10 others injured when a passenger bus collided with a car in Pakistan's eastern Punjab province, officials said on Saturday.

The accident took place on Shakargarh Road in the Narowal district of the province when the bus driver lost control over the vehicle while overtaking and hit the car, district police officer Narowal Rizwan Omer Gondal told Xinhua.

Pakistan: PM, new Turkish ambassador discuss bilateral ties

ISLAMABAD, Jul 7 (APP): The newly appointed Turkish Ambassador to Pakistan Mehmet Pacaci met Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif here on Thursday and discussed the bilateral relations and matters of mutual interests.

The prime minister felicitated the ambassador on his appointment and extended best wishes to him for a successful term in Pakistan.

He stated that Pakistan-Turkiye fraternal ties were unparalleled in inter-state relations in terms of mutual trust, understanding and mutual support on each other’s national causes.

Youngest Pakistani who scaled K2 is safe after going missing

ISLAMABAD (AP) — A Pakistani man who became the youngest climber of one of the world’s highest mountains is safe after going missing during an expedition to another dangerous peak, his father and an official said Thursday.

Last year, Shehroze Kashif scaled K2 at age 19. He and another Pakistani, Fazal Ali, went missing earlier this week after scaling Nanga Parbat, the world’s ninth-highest peak. That prompted the country’s military to launch a search for them after Kashif’s family issued an emotional appeal to rescue the pair.

19 Killed, 12 Injured As Bus Fell Into Ditch In SW Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, Jul 4 (NNN-APP) – At least 19 passengers were killed and 12 others injured, when a passenger bus fell into a ravine yesterday, near Sherani district of Pakistan’s south-western Balochistan province, local media reported.

According to the reports, the incident took place near Dana Sar area of the district, along the border with north-western Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, after the driver lost control, due to over-speeding, amid rain.

The bus fell deep and overturned multiple times in the process, local media said.

Narcotics smuggling attempt foiled at Pakistani airport, Three arrested

ISLAMABAD, Jul 4 (NNN-APP) – The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) of Pakistan, foiled an attempt to smuggle narcotics and arrested three people, at the Islamabad International Airport, officials said yesterday.

Director General of the ANF, Ghulam Shabeer Narejo, told local media that, the officials seized five kg of heroin from a three-member gang at the airport, adding that, the drugs were hidden in the luggage trolley.

The gang members confessed to smuggling narcotics to foreign countries, said the official.

Gunmen kill 2 policemen, polio worker in northwest Pakistan

PESHAWAR, Pakistan (AP) — Gunmen on motorcycles opened fire on Pakistani police escorting a team of polio workers Tuesday during a door-to-door inoculation campaign in a former Pakistani Taliban stronghold, killing two policemen and a polio worker, police said.

No one immediately claimed responsibility for the attack in North Waziristan, a district in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. The attack came a day after the government launched another nationwide anti-polio campaign amid a spike in attacks.

Pakistan: PACF’s mission to assist quake-hit Afghan people continues

ISLAMABAD, Jun 27 (APP): The Pakistan Afghanistan Cooperation Forum (PACF) is keeping up its efforts to assist the people of Afghanistan hit by the recent devastating earthquake hitting the eastern part of the country.

At least 1,000 people had died and around 3,000 sustained injuries while hundreds of houses were destroyed in the quake which affected the mountainous province of Paktika.

Following the earthquake, Afghanistan’s Taliban government had appealed for more international help to cope with the humanitarian situation.

On int’l day, Pakistan reiterates resolve for creating a drug free society, world

ISLAMABAD, Jun 26 (APP): Pakistan on Sunday joined the international community to observe the “International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking”, reiterating its steadfast resolve to create a drug free society and the world.

In a statement, the Foreign Office spokesperson said the drug abuse undermined public health and the socio-economic development besides challenging the national security and prosperity.

He said Pakistan itself was a poppy free country, but its population became a victim of regional opiate production and trade.
