Pakistan: Imran Khan’s remarks against state institution a conspiracy; needs to be stopped immediately: PM

ISLAMABAD, May 9 (APP): Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif Monday said that the statement by ex-prime minister Imran Khan against a national institution was in fact a conspiracy against Pakistan and the institution, which needed to be stopped immediately to avert chaos.

The prime minister, in his address at the National Assembly, said if the situation was not controlled, Pakistan could meet a fate like Syria and Libya.

Pakistan condemns terrorist attack in Egypt: FO Spokesperson

ISLAMABAD, May 8 (APP): Pakistan Sunday condemned the heinous terrorist attack in Sinai, Egypt which resulted in the death of 11 security personnel.

According to Foreign Office Spokesperson, the Government and people of Pakistan extend deepest condolences to the bereaved families. “We pray for the early recovery of those injured in the attack.”

“Pakistan condemns terrorism in all its forms and manifestations. We also reaffirm our solidarity with the brotherly people of Egypt,” he said.

10 Killed, Several Injured In Road Accidents In Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, May 3 (NNN-APP) – Ten people were killed and several others injured, in separate road accidents yesterday in Pakistan, local media reported.

Seven people were burnt to death, after a vehicle fell into a dry canal, in Nawabshah district of Pakistan’s southern Sindh province, local media said.

The accident occurred when an over-speeding vehicle lost control and crashed into the canal, on the national highway, according to the reports.

Karachi blast kills three Chinese, including Confucius centre head, and Pakistani

ISLAMABAD, April 26 (Reuters) - A bomb blast on a minibus killed three Chinese employed at Karachi University's Confucius Institute on Tuesday, officials and police said, in the first major attack in Pakistan on nationals of long time ally China since last year.

The three were among passengers on a minibus travelling near the university when the bomb exploded, killing the Chinese and a fourth person, a Pakistani, police said.

Pakistan: Indian PM’s visit to IIOJK ploy to project fake normalcy: FO

ISLAMABAD, Apr 25 (APP): Pakistan Sunday rejected Indian Prime Minister’s staged visit to Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) on 24 April 2022 as yet another ploy to project fake ‘normalcy’ in the occupied territory.

In a statement, the Foreign Office Spokesperson said since 5 August 2019, the international community had witnessed many such desperate attempts by India to divert attention from the actual underlying issues in IIOJK including Indian state-sponsored terrorism as well as widespread violations of human rights and international humanitarian law.

Pakistan: Imran Khan warns those who ousted him to rectify their 'mistake' by holding early elections

Lahore, Apr 22 (PTI) In a veiled warning to Pakistan's military establishment, former prime minister Imran Khan has given an ultimatum to those who have ousted him to rectify their "mistake" by holding early elections or else his supporters will reach the capital to overthrow the "imported government".

Addressing a rally of his Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) at Minar-i-Pakistan in Lahore on Thursday night, Khan lashed out at the new coalition government led by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and those who brought it to power.

Afghan IS group claims series of bombings targeting Shiites

ISLAMABAD (AP) — An Islamic State affiliate on Friday claimed a series of bombings a day earlier that targeted Afghanistan’s minority Shiite Muslims, while Pakistan issued a warning of IS threats in its eastern Punjab province.

The deadliest of three bombings on Thursday in Afghanistan exploded inside a Shite mosque in northern Mazar-e-Sharif. Hospital officials say at least 12 people were killed and as many as 40 were hurt.

Pakistan: ADB sells $4 bln Dual Tranche 3, 10-year global benchmark bonds

ISLAMABAD, Apr 21 (APP): Asian Development Bank (ADB) returned to the United States (US) dollar bond market with the pricing of a 3-year global benchmark bond worth $3 billion and a 10-year global benchmark bond worth $1 billion, proceeds of which will be part of ADB’s ordinary capital resources.

The 3-year bond, with a coupon rate of 2.875% per annum payable semi-annually and a maturity date of 6 May 2025, was priced at 99.882% to yield 12.625 basis points over the 2.625% US Treasury notes due April 2025, according to ADB press statement received here Thursday.

US congresswoman visits Pakistani part of disputed Kashmir, draws India's ire

MUZAFFARABAD, Pakistan, April 21 (Reuters) - Congresswoman Ilhan Omar made a rare visit by a U.S. lawmaker to Pakistan's part of the disputed Himalayan region of Kashmir on Thursday and said the issue should get more attention from the United States, prompting an angry response from India.

The Muslim-majority Kashmir region has long been the source of tensions between nuclear-armed neighbours India and Pakistan, leading them to fight three wars since winning independence from the British Empire in 1947.

Both countries claim the territory in full but rule it in part.
