ISLAMABAD, July 9 (Xinhua) -- At least six people were killed and over 10 others injured when a passenger bus collided with a car in Pakistan's eastern Punjab province, officials said on Saturday.
The accident took place on Shakargarh Road in the Narowal district of the province when the bus driver lost control over the vehicle while overtaking and hit the car, district police officer Narowal Rizwan Omer Gondal told Xinhua.
All the killed were passengers of the car while 10 people aboard the bus were injured, the official said, adding that the accident occurred due to the over-speeding and slippery road owing to a recent heavy downpour in the district.
Following the incident, rescue teams and police reached the scene and shifted the injured people to a nearby hospital. Several among them are said to be in critical condition.
Road accidents are quite frequent in Pakistan mainly due to poor roads, badly maintained vehicles and unprofessional driving.
