Army chief accuses Morocco of conspiring against Algeria

29 Sep 2021; MEMO: Algerian Chief of Staff, Lieutenant General Said Chanegriha on Monday accused Morocco of weaving "conspiracies" against his country.

"This expansionist regime has gone too far in its conspiracies and subversive propaganda campaigns, which aim to reduce Algeria's regional role, exhaust its capacities, prevent its development and undermine the unity of its people," Chanegriha said during a visit to an army base near the Moroccan border.

Algeria closes airspace to Moroccan planes

ALGIERS, Sept 23 (NNN-Xinhua) — The Algerian presidency said the country has closed its airspace to all Moroccan civil and military aircraft amid an escalating diplomatic row, the official APS news agency reported.

The decision was made after Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune chaired a meeting of the High Security Council on Wednesday, which dealt with the “developments at the borders with the Kingdom of Morocco,” APS quoted the Algerian presidency as saying in a statement.

Algeria closes airspace to Morocco

23 Sep 2021; MEMO: Algeria's supreme security council yesterday closed the country's airspace to all Moroccan civil and military aircraft, the Algerian presidency said, less than a month after it cut diplomatic relations with the kingdom, Reuters reports.

The decision came "in view of the continued provocations and hostile practices on the Moroccan side," it said in a statement.

Algeria: protesters clash with police for second day

03 Sep 2021; MEMO: Protesters clashed with the police in eastern Algeria on Thursday for the second day running, the Algerian League for the Defence of Human Rights (LADDH) and local media have reported. The protests were organised following the authorities' ban of a rally organised in support of detained activists.

According to Radio M, the police hurled tear gas grenades to disperse the protesters. It pointed out that all of the protesters arrested on Wednesday have been released.

All of Algeria standing against 'Morocco-Israel' alliance: Minister

02 Sep 2021; MEMO: The Algerian Minister of Communication Ammar Belhimer said all of the country's components stand against the Moroccan-Israeli alliance.

"Algeria represented by its people, constitutional institutions and developmental prospects are the subject of a real and systematic war from several parties, foremost of which is the Moroccan-Zionist alliance," Belhimer said in an interview with the Algerian Djalia newspaper.

Algeria's president says Libya should regain place in region

ALGIERS, Aug. 31 (Xinhua) -- Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune said on Tuesday that Libya should regain its role in the Maghreb region, Africa and the Arab World, the official APS news agency reported.

Tebboune made the remarks at a meeting of foreign ministers of Libya's neighboring nations held in the capital of Algiers, which aimed at helping Libya to hold general elections on Dec. 24.
