UAE Senior Advisor says Israel measures against Palestinians contradict Abraham Accords

Family of jailed Tunisia MP files complaint with UK against President: Lawyer

23 Mar 2023; MEMO: The family of jailed Tunisian parliamentarian and Ennhada Movement leader, Said Ferjani, has filed a legal appeal, calling on the United Kingdom to impose sanctions on Tunisian officials, including President Kais Saied, for gross human rights violations, family lawyer, Saber Al-Obeidi, said.

The appeal was filed under the UK's Global Human Rights Sanctions Regulations 2020.

The case also includes Tunisia's Justice Minister, Leïla Jaffel, and former Interior Minister, Taoufik Charfeddine.

Cost of detaining people under UK's illegal immigration bill could be more than $11bn in 3 years; Refugee Council

22 Mar 2023; MEMO: The Refugee Council has said that the cost of detaining and accommodating people under the government's illegal immigration bill could be more than £9 billion ($10.6 billion) in the first three years.

The charity said that the figure is part of an impact assessment of the bill based on the Home Office being able to remove 30,000 people and send them to Rwanda, detaining people for 28 days and accommodating others.

Jordan Parliament approves proposal to expel Israel envoy amid tension

22 Mar 2023; MEMO: The Jordanian Parliament, on Wednesday, approved a proposal to expel the Israeli Ambassador, amid tension over statements by Israeli Finance Minister, Bezalel Smotrich, in which he denied the existence of the Palestinian people, Anadolu News Agency reports.

London police force is institutionally racist, misogynistic, homophobic, report finds

21 Mar 2023; MEMO: The Metropolitan Police in the UK capital London have been found to be institutionally racist, misogynistic and homophobic in a damning report led by Baroness Louise Casey.

In one of the incidents highlighted, a Muslim police officer said that he found bacon inside his boots in his locker but did not tell anyone at the time out of fear of reprisals.
