Israel: Ben-Gvir praises settler who massacred 29 Palestinians at Al-Ibrahimi Mosque

01 Apr 2023; MEMO: Israeli Defence Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir has praised Baruch Goldstein, the settler who massacred 29 Palestinian worshippers and wounded more than 100 others at Al-Ibrahimi Mosque in Hebron in 1994, Safa News Agency reported on Friday.

Israel occupation forces kill Palestine youth in Al-Aqsa Mosque

01 Apr 2023; MEMO: Israeli occupation forces on Friday night shot dead a Palestinian youth in Al-Aqsa Mosque while he was trying to re-enter the holy site after being removed.

This came after Israeli occupation forces stormed Al-Aqsa Mosque and evacuated most of the Palestinian worshippers remaining inside.

At the same site of the killing, eyewitnesses stated they saw the Israeli occupation police assaulting a Palestinian woman who was also attempting to re-enter the mosque.

Hamas urges Azerbaijan to stop normalisation with Israel

31 Mar 2023; MEMO: The Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas, called Thursday on Azerbaijan to reverse its decision to normalise relations with Israel, saying it would come at the expense of the Palestinian people's rights.

This came a day after Baku opened an embassy in Tel Aviv, after more than 30 years of diplomatic ties.

Settler attacks on Palestinians linked to Israeli settlement expansion; UN

30 Mar 2023; MEMO: The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights has told the Human Rights Council that Israeli settlement expansion is linked to settler attacks against Palestinians over the past decade. Volker Turk noted that the UN has verified 3,372 incidents of settler violence that injured 1,222 Palestinians.

Turk presented his findings in a report to the council on Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories, including East Jerusalem, as well as the occupied Syrian Golan Heights.

Israel is on 'rampage' against human rights, new HRW chief says

30 Mar 2023; MEMO: Israel's government is "on a rampage" against human rights, the new head of Human Rights Watch said on Thursday, and urged the United States and other allies to do more to hold it accountable for alleged abuses and persuade it to change course, Reuters reports.

A planned overhaul of the judiciary by Israel's religious-nationalist government would be "a disaster" for human rights, HRW Executive Director, Tirana Hassan, told Reuters.

Israel to allow police to search Palestinian homes without warrant

30 Mar 2023; MEMO: Israel's parliament, the Knesset, passed temporary legislation last night that allows police officers to conduct house searches for illegal weapons without a warrant, particularly in Arab communities, Haaretz has reported. The objective is to "reduce the number of illegal weapons used by criminal organisations by providing tools to the Israeli police and other law enforcement authorities."
