Tunisia protests in support of arrested activist Shaima Issa

04 Apr 2023; MEMO: Dozens of Tunisians broke their fast together yesterday in front of the women's prison in Manouba Governorate while protesting in support of the arrested activist Shaima Issa, a member of the opposition's National Salvation Front.

According to the correspondent from Anadolu news agency, Issa's family and members of the families of other political prisoners participated in the action to condemn the arbitrary detentions.

Israel: former police chief warns Ben-Gvir could use 'National Guard' to carry out coup

03 Apr 2023; MEMO: A former police chief in Israel warned on Saturday that the "National Guard" unit to be formed and run by far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir could be used to carry out a coup against the government. Moshe Karadi led Israel's police service between 2004 and 2007. Ben-Gvir "will use [the unit] against him one day," he warned Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Israel demolishes Palestine village of Al-Araqeeb for 215th time

03 Apr 2023; MEMO: The Israeli Occupation authorities demolished today Al-Araqeeb village, based in the Negev (Naqab) Desert for the 215th time since 2010, and the 4th time this year.

Israeli forces raided the village and forced the residents, mainly women and children, out of the village to demolish what the residents had rebuilt using wood and plastic sheets to re-shelter their families since the last demolition.

Israel National Guard 'militia for fighting Palestinians': Rights group

03 Apr 2023; MEMO: A human rights group has termed Israel's National Guard as an armed militia designed for fighting Palestinians, calling for its abolition, Anadolu News Agency reports.

In a statement, the Legal Centre for Arab Minority Rights in Israel (ADALA) said it has sent an urgent letter to the government's judicial adviser, Gali Baharav-Miara, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and National Security Minister, Itamar Ben-Gvir demanding the abolition of the so-called National Guard.

Germany, Jordan call for 2-state solution to Israel-Palestine conflict

03 Apr 2023; MEMO: Germany and Jordan, on Monday, called for a two-state solution to the Israel-Palestine conflict, urging all parties to take steps to de-escalate the situation in the region, Anadolu News Agency reports.

German Foreign Minister, Annalena Baerbock, and her Jordanian counterpart, Ayman Safadi, expressed their concern over recent developments in the region, following their meeting in Berlin.

Palestinian family accuses Israeli police of lying after doctor's death at Al-Aqsa

02 Apr 2023; MEMO: The family of a young Palestinian shot dead by Israeli forces in occupied East Jerusalem accused Israeli police of lying about the circumstances of his death, Anadolu reports.

Mohammad al-Osaibi, a 26-year-old doctor from Houra, a Bedouin Arab village in southern Israel, was killed by Israeli police forces at an entrance to Al-Aqsa Mosque in the occupied city early Saturday.

Israeli protests over judicial overhaul continue despite Netanyahu's pause
