Palestinians win landmark case in Switzerland for UN 'protection rights'

21 April 2022; MEMO: After an eight-year legal battle, a Swiss court has recognised the statelessness of Palestinian refugees from Syria and acknowledged their right to protection. The landmark case could open the door for other Palestinians to secure basic rights as refugees that have been denied to them since their ethnic cleansing by Israel.

Israel to close West Bank, Gaza crossings for final days of Jewish Passover

21 April 2022; MEMO: The West Bank and Gaza Strip crossings will be closed during the final days of the Jewish Passover holiday, according to the Israeli military.

The closures are standard practice during the Jewish holidays, in what the military claim is a preventative measure.

India: 2 Kashmiris killed by Indian Sec Forces in Baramulla district of Indian Administered Kashmir

Baramulla, 21 April 2022: Two Kashmiris were killed by Indian security forces in Malwah area of Baramulla district of the Indian Administered Kashmir on Thursday, Indian officials said.

Three soldiers were also injured in gunfight.

India: PM cannot imprison truth, Mevani's arrest undemocratic: Cong

New Delhi, Apr 21 (PTI) The Congress on Thursday termed as "undemocratic" and "unconstitutional" the arrest of Gujarat legislator Jignesh Mevani over his tweets, with former party chief Rahul Gandhi saying Prime Minister Narendra Modi cannot imprison the truth by trying to "crush" dissent.

The Congress attacked the BJP government over Mevani's arrest by the Assam Police and alleged that Prime Minister Modi was "scared" and running "helter-skelter" by such actions.

Israel occupation forces storm Al-Aqsa Mosque again and attack worshippers

21 April 2022; MEMO: Large groups of Israeli occupation police stormed the courtyards of Al-Aqsa Mosque this morning in advance of mass incursions by groups of illegal Jewish settlers. Muslim worshippers in the Noble Sanctuary, men, women and children, were attacked brutally by the police.

According to the Red Crescent Society, twenty Palestinians were injured as a result of Israel's suppression of protests against the settler incursions.

UAE, Saudi FMs unable to attend emergency meeting on occupied Jerusalem

21 April 2022; MEMO: Jordanian media outlets reported today that "three Arab ministers are unable to attend today's Arab Ministerial Committee emergency meeting charged with international action to confront illegal Israeli policies in occupied Jerusalem."

Jordan's Madar Al-Sa'a website reported that "the Algerian Foreign Minister, Ramtane Lamamra, said he was unable to attend the meeting for medical reasons, instead sending his country's Arab League representative to attend the meeting in his place."

Egypt court upholds life sentence against Muslim Brotherhood leader

21 April 2022; MEMO: Egypt's Court of Cassation yesterday upheld the life sentence handed to Mohamed Badie, the leader of the now banned Muslim Brotherhood, Anadolu reported.

Judicial sources reported that the court also upheld life terms against two other Muslim Brotherhood leaders – Mohamed Beltagy and Safwat Hijazi.

Cancellation of restrictions on Jerusalem church demanded by Arab Joint List group

21 April 2022; MEMO: Israel's Prime Minister Naftali Bennett and Interior Minister Omer Bar-Lev have been told that the decision to limit the number of Christians visiting Jerusalem's historic Church of the Holy Sepulchre is a "flagrant violation" of Palestinian rights.
