Kanpur Metro train develops snag at Geeta Nagar station

Kanpur: Metro operation began as usual at 6 in the morning. At around 7:30 a.m., the metro train stopped at Geeta Nagar station.

Despite attempts to start the engine again it was not starting to run again. Due to this, other trains coming from behind also had to stop at different stations.

There was a problem with the wiring inside the train, as was reportedly said.

Attempts were made to rectify the problem on the spot but the engineers could not fix it at the station.

India: UP rape victim's brother found dead

Bulandshahr (UP), Aug 20 (PTI) A rape victim's brother died here under mysterious circumstances and his body was found hanging from a tree, police said on Saturday.

The rape had taken place on August 13.

Police said one of the rape accused has been arrested while the other is absconding.

A police official said they had received information that a man hanged himself from a tree at a garden in the Ahar area. The body has been sent for a post-mortem.

India: Slight surge in city's corona cases causes clamping of Section 144

Kanpur: Section 144 was clamped in the Kanpur district on Saturday, an official government spokesman said.

According to the details, prohibitory orders have been imposed in the city in view of a slight surge in coronavirus infections, several examinations and festivals in days to come.

The restrictions, announced on Saturday evening, will be effective for a complete calender month.

Section 144 of the CrPC restricts the gathering of more than four to five people at a place, the spokesman added.

India: Rats' terror prevails at Khapra Mohal Bridge in Kanpur

Kanpur: Strangely enough rats are damaging the Khapra Mohal bridge here. According to PWD officials, this bridge is getting washed away due to rats. It is situated near Central railway station, where huge rats are causing heavy damage to this bridge by gnawing on it.

The Khapra Mohal bridge built on the Cantt station site remains in the discussion because the bridge has been eaten by the rats. The bridge collapsed as soon as it rained.

There has been a stir due to the sudden collapse of a part of the bridge. Thousands of people move daily through this bridge.

India: Appearance of Crocodile on Ganga Barrage creates panic

Kanpur: There was panic when a crocodile came out of the water on the Ganga barrage here on Thursday morning.

On the information of the local people, the forest department team reached the spot and tied it with the help of a stick and rope and brought it to the Allen Forest zoo.

Regional Forest Officer Dilip Kumar Gupta said that at around 8:30 in the morning, local people had informed about the 40-Kg crocodile on the premises of Jal Sansthan.

Upon this, the staff was immediately sent to the spot and the crocodile was sooner caught.

India: House gutted in gas cylinder leakage, one receives burn injuries

 Kanpur: A house was gutted in a cylinder explosion on Wednesday afternoon.

The sound was so loud that it was heard far and the villagers were horrified.

A villager was also hit in the accident. He has suffered burns.

The fire broke out at Majra Kapoor Farm of Katri Domanpur in Maharajpur in the afternoon due to the leakage of a gas cylinder in Nanku's kutcha house.

The whole of the house started burning with smoke. The fire got terrifying.

India: Insufficient sweets packets lead to scuffle at College in Kanpur

Kanpur: The DBS College principal formed a committee to conduct the probe into the scuffle that broke out between the College NCC in charge and Steno, in Govind Nagar. The packets of laddoos were found to be insufficient.

Reacting to the matter the College principal Anil Kumar Mishra said that there took place some scuffle on the issue of sweets distribution between the NCC in charge and steno. The probe panel would submit a report on Wednesday.

It is alleged that the students who favour the NCC in charge beat up Steno and other teachers and employees.

India: Bitthoor's historic well exists at Nana Rao Peshwa Palace

Kannur: There were a total of eight wells around the Nana Saheb Peshwa Palace complex in Bitthoor. As many as 7 wells have been destroyed.

The remaining historical well, which contains memories of history, exists near Nana Rao Peshwa Memorial Park in Nanarao Peshwa Palace.

Wells were very deep. In this one particular well, there is a big round iron griddle which never allows the water sources to dry up.

Hence this well is always filled with water. It is said that Narang, the horse of Rani Laxmibai used to drink water from this well.

India: Rains bring viral and bacterial infections, three kids die in Kanpur

Kanpur: Viral and bacterial infections are increasing during the rainy season. In the OPD of Paediatric Hospital, there was a line of patients suffering from fever, pneumonia and diarrhoea.

Similarly, patients with fever and viral infection with symptoms of dengue came more to the OPD of Medicine Department. In addition, three children died of pneumonia, as has been reported.

In the paediatric ICU of the maternity wing, 20 children are put on ventilators. The patients developed pneumonia after a viral infection.

India: Possibility of rain survives despite humidity in Kanpur area

Kanpur: Due to the lack of monsoon rains, there is strong sunshine here. The humidity is increasing day by day.
