Iranian FM holds phone talk with UN chief on regional issues, Vienna talks

TEHRAN, Jan. 28 (Xinhua) -- Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian on Friday held a phone conversation with Secretary-General of the United Nations (UN) Antonio Guterres, on regional issues and Vienna nuke talks, according to the Iranian Foreign Ministry's website.

Amir Abdollahian referred to the conflict in Yemen, stressing Iran's "continued approach to supporting a political solution to end the war in that country."

Iran's IRGC concludes combined security drill in eastern country

TEHRAN, Jan. 27 (Xinhua) -- Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Ground Force held on Thursday the final stage of a seven-day combined security war game in the eastern province of South Khorasan, IRIB state TV reported.

Held in an area of 500 kilometers in a public district of the border village of Shahrakht, Zirkuh County, the exercise was aimed at increasing the military and defense preparedness of the IRGC Ground Force units in the face of potential threats and Takfiri groups, and training the new generation of the soldiers, according to IRIB.

Iran Rules Out “Interim Deal” In Vienna Nuke Talks

TEHRAN, Jan 25 (NNN-IRNA) – Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman, yesterday, ruled out the possibility of an “interim deal” in ongoing nuclear talks between Iran and the world powers, in Austria’s capital, Vienna.

“Iran is looking for a stable and reliable agreement and will not accept anything less than that. The quality of the agreement is important to us, nothing less and nothing more,” Saeed Khatibzadeh made the remarks, in his weekly press conference.

Iran FM says path is open for Saudi Arabia to restore diplomatic ties

Iran allows fuel trucks to go to Afghanistan

24 Jan 2022; MEMO: Iran's special representative in Kabul, Hassan Kazemi Qomi, announced on Sunday that Tehran has given permission for fuel trucks to go to neighbouring Afghanistan.

"In order to meet the needs of the Afghan people in winter and at the request of the Afghan authorities, a permit has been issued for diesel fuel trucks to pass to Afghanistan through Iranian territory for a period of three months," Qomi wrote on Twitter.

South Korea says Iran to regain UN vote after delinquent dues paid with frozen funds

23 Jan 2022; MEMO: Iran is expected to regain its vote in the UN General Assembly after South Korea paid Tehran's delinquent dues to the world body with frozen Iranian funds in the country, South Korea said on Sunday, Reuters reported.

Iran had regained its UN voting rights in June after a similar payment, but said this month it had lost them again because it could not transfer the funds to pay its dues as a result of US sanctions.

Russian President holds first face-to-face meeting with new Iranian counterpart

Greeting Raisi, Putin said the trade turnover between Russia and Iran has been increasing despite the coronavirus pandemic, and the two countries continue implementation of major projects and expand cooperation "in many directions."

Iran Urges Resolving Refugee, Sanctions Issues To Help Syria Out Of Crisis

TEHRAN, Jan 17 (NNN-IRNA) – Iranian Foreign Minister, Hossein Amir Abdollahian, yesterday called for resolving the refugee issues and anti-Syrian embargoes, as means to help settle Syria’s crisis, according to Iran’s Foreign Ministry.

“Without considering the issue of refugees and the sanctions imposed on Syria, (resolving) the crisis in this country cannot be directed in the right direction,” Amir Abdollahian said, at a meeting with the visiting UN Special Envoy for Syria, Geir Pedersen.
