IRGC unveils new strategic long-range missile named “Kheibar-Shekan”

Tehran (ISNA) - The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) unveiled the new strategic long-range missile with pinpoint accuracy on Wednesday.

On the occasion of the 43rd anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution, Chief of Staff of Iranian Armed Forces Major-General Mohammad Bagheri and IRGC Commander of the Aerospace Force Brigadier General Amir Ali Hajizadeh unveiled the homegrown “Kheibar-Shekan” missile.

Iran, Oman to boost maritime trade through Chabahar Port

Tehran (ISNA) - Iran and Oman signed MoU during 19th meeting of Joint Economic Committee in order to promote economic ties and maritime trade through Chabahar Port.

The MoU was reached in Muscat between Seyed Reza Fatemi Amin, Iran Minister of Industry, Mines, and Trade, and Qais bin Mohammed Al Yousef, Oman Minister of Commerce and Industry.

For implementation of bilateral MoU, an economic delegation from Oman will visit the infrastructures, equipment, and capabilities of Chabahar Port before long, Qais bin Mohammed Al Yousef mentioned.

Iran "never pins hopes" on Vienna nuke talks: president

TEHRAN, Feb. 11 (Xinhua) -- Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi said on Friday that Iran never pins its hopes on the Vienna talks aimed at reviving the 2015 nuclear agreement, noting its reliance on its people and domestic potentials.

"Counting on foreigners to do something for us has caused problems. With the efforts of our people and the service of government, great steps will be taken toward economic independence," Raisi said in a televised speech commemorating the 43rd anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution in the capital Tehran.

Iranians celebrate 43rd anniversary of Islamic Revolution

TEHRAN, Iran (AP) — Thousands of cars and motorbikes paraded in celebration of the 43rd anniversary of Iran’s 1979 Islamic Revolution on Friday, although fewer pedestrians were out for a second straight year due to concerns over the coronavirus pandemic.

In the capital Tehran, processions started out from several points, converging on the usual meetup point at Azadi Square. State media said hundreds of thousands of people were involved in the celebrations, and state TV showed crowds in many cities and towns.

Sending team to Vienna shows Iran's will to pursue diplomatic solution: president

TEHRAN, Feb. 10 (Xinhua) -- Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi said on Thursday that dispatching a comprehensive team to the talks in Vienna on the restoration of the 2015 nuclear deal shows the Islamic Republic's serious will to pursue a diplomatic solution.

Raisi made the remarks during his meeting with foreign ambassadors to Iran on the occasion of the 43rd anniversary of Iran's 1979 Islamic Revolution, according to the Iranian presidency's website.

Iran reveals ballistic missile capable of hitting targets within Israel

10 Feb 2022; MEMO: Iran yesterday revealed the development of a new ballistic missile with a range of 1,450 kilometres, meaning it is capable of hitting targets within Israel as well as US bases in the Middle East.

Iranian state TV reported a military spokesman as saying that the new surface-to-surface missile dubbed Khaibar Shekan has high accuracy and is propelled by solid fuel and is capable of penetrating missile shields.

TEHRAN, Feb. 9 (Xinhua) -- Iran on Wednesday unveiled a new ballistic missile with a range of 1,450 km, Tasnim news agency reported.

The missile named Kheibar Shekan was unveiled as Iran is celebrating the 43rd anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution.

It belongs to the third generation of long-range missiles owned by Iran's Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC), the report said, adding that it can hit targets at the range of 1,450 km with remarkable agility and speed.

U.S. school shootings "tsunami" in 2021-2022 school year: report

TEHRAN, Feb. 8 (Xinhua) -- U.S. school campuses have witnessed a total of 141 shootings so far in the 2021-2022 school year, a record high in a decade, Tehran Times has reported.

Calling the school shootings in the United States this term a "tsunami," the report released on Monday said it was another major sign of the country's gun violence crisis.

"Stresses and challenges of the (COVID-19) pandemic are worsening gun violence in American schools," said the report, quoting research results from U.S. nonprofit organization Everytown for Gun Safety as saying.

Iran begins trial of alleged US-based terrorist ring leader

07 Feb 2022; MEMO: Iran yesterday began the trial of Iranian-German national and US resident Jamshid Sharmahd; an alleged leader of the militant wing of a US-based Iranian opposition group who is accused of planning a 2008 bombing at a mosque that killed 14 people and wounded over 200 in the Islamic Republic, local media reported.

Iranian state television said Sharmahd had confessed to having ties to the FBI and the CIA, and said he had been in contact with nine FBI and CIA agents.

Iran urges U.S. to lift "maximum pressure" sanctions to reach good nuclear deal

TEHRAN, Feb. 7 (Xinhua) -- Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Ali Shamkhani said on Monday the anti-Iran sanctions re-imposed by former United States administration should be lifted in order to reach a "good agreement" in the ongoing Vienna nuclear talks.

"The Iranian negotiators' agenda for continuing the eighth round of talks has been carefully specified," Shamkhani tweeted, adding "an agreement in which the 'maximum pressure' sanctions are not lifted will have an impact on the country's (Iran) economy, and cannot be the basis of a good agreement."
