Turkish War Planes Fly Over Syria In Anti-Daesh Campaign

ANKARA, Sept 24 (NNN-ANADOLU) – Two Turkish F-16 fighter jets, on Monday, flew over Syrian airspace, as part of an anti-Daesh campaign, the Defence Ministry said.

The Turkish jets flew over Syrian airspace for two hours under Operation Inherent Resolve, the statement said.

The operation was formally launched by the United States in 2014, and Turkey is also a part of the campaign. However, Turkey’s air forces have for long not been flying in Syria as part of Operation Inherent Resolve.

First Russian S-400 missile systems to be deployed in Turkey in December — top brass

ANKARA, September 20. /TASS/: First Russian S-400 missile systems will be deployed in Turkey as soon as in December, Turkey's Undersecretary for Defense Industries Ismail Demir said Friday.

"S-400 systems will be deployed and activated in December," Demir said.

General Director of the Russian Kontsern Pvo Almaz-Antei Yan Novikov said in late August that training of the Turkish military to operate the S-400 is scheduled to begin on September 1, 2019 and last until January 2, 2020. The second procurement of the S-400 systems is planned for 2020.

Erdogan says 2-3 million Syrian refugees in Turkey, Europe can be resettled in 'safe zone'

ANKARA (Reuters) - Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan said on Wednesday that a planned “safe zone” in northern Syria could host 2-3 million Syrian refugees that

have settled in Turkey and Europe after eight years of war at home.

Addressing academics in Ankara, Erdogan also repeated that Ankara would act on its own if the zone, planned jointly with the United States in Syria’s northeast, bears no results.

Russian Su-35 Performs At Istanbul Aerospace Festival

ISTANBUL, Sept 18 (NNN-ANADOLU) – A Russian Su-35 fighter jet performed an aerobatic show at the opening ceremony of Turkey’s biggest aerospace and technology festival in Istanbul.

The 4++ generation supersonic multi-purpose fighter with a single seat and twin engines, displayed various stunts over the sky for about 10 minutes.

During a visit to the air show in Moscow in late Aug, Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, inspected the Su-35 and fifth-generation Su-57 jets, and discussed with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, bilateral cooperation on them.

Iran, Russia and Turkey can do more to resolve Syria’s crisis: Erdogan

ANKARA, Sept 17 (NNN-IRNA) - Ankara, Tehran and Moscow should take more responsibility to bring tranquility to Syria, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said at the opening ceremony of a trilateral summit here on Monday.

The fifth trilateral summit on Syria crisis was held here with participation of heads of the three states- Iran, Turkey and Russia.

The trilateral meeting would focus on the humanitarian crisis in Syria, the unrest and lack of control of the Syrian Government on the northwestern city of Idlib and the Syrian refugees in particular, Erdogan noted.

Turkish economy: Total turnover up 12.6% in July

ISTANBUL; 16 Sep 2019; AA: Turkey's economy saw an annual hike in total turnover in July, the nation’s statistics authority announced Monday.

"Calendar adjusted total turnover index including industry, construction, trade and services sectors increased by 12.6% in July 2019 compared with the same month of the previous year," Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) said.

Turkish, Iranian presidents hold bilateral meeting

ANKARA; 16 Sep 2019; AA: The Turkish president on Monday met his Iranian counterpart in the capital Ankara, ahead of the trilateral summit on Syria later in the day.

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan received his Iranian counterpart Hassan Rouhani at the presidential mansion and held a closed-door meeting that lasted almost two hours.

Putin’s visit to Saudi Arabia planned for October, says Kremlin

ANKARA, September 16. /TASS/: Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov is certain that the attack on Saudi Aramco oil facilities won’t affect preparations for Russian President Vladimir Putin’s visit to Saudi Arabia scheduled for October.

"The visit was indeed planned for October, the precise date will be announced when it is agreed with the Saudi side," he told reporters. According to Peskov, "these incidents [as the attack on Saudi Aramco] undeniably cannot affect preparations [for the visit].".

Russia’s MC-21 medium-haul liner makes first international flight

ISTANBUL, September 16. /TASS/: Russia’s medium-haul passenger liner MC-21 has made its debut international flight from Zhukovsky [airport] to Istanbul, a TASS correspondent reports. The plane arrived at Ataturk Airport for the festival Tekhnofest.

This is the first international flight and first public display of this plane outside Russia, which is still in the development phase. The MC-21 performed its first flight in 2017. It was demonstrated to the public at large for the first time at the air show MAKS in September 2019.
