Turkey, U.S. Presidents Agree To Meet In Nov In Washington

ANKARA, Oct 7 (NNN-ANADOLU) – Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and his U.S. counterpart, Donald Trump, agreed in a phone conversation, on Sunday, to meet in Washington in Nov.

The two leaders exchanged views on the safe zone agreed upon to be established in Syria, during which Erdogan complained to Trump on the U.S. military and security “bureaucracy,” said a statement.

Turkey summons US diplomat over a Twitter ‘like’

ANKARA, Turkey (AP) — Turkey summoned a top American diplomat Sunday after the U.S. Embassy’s official Twitter account “liked” a tweet that said the people of Turkey should prepare for a political era without the leader of Turkey’s national party, who is reportedly ill.

The Foreign Ministry said the U.S. charge d’affaires Jeffrey Hovenier was summoned despite an embassy statement that said its Twitter account had liked “an unrelated post in error,” and apologized.

Turkish firm esports heating fabrics

6 Oct 2019; AA: A Turkish entrepreneur is now exporting a heating fabric, developed from 100% local sources, for €20 ($22) a square meter, said executives of the firm on Saturday.

The innovative new fabric can dissipate heat with low voltage and can be used in numerous fields, such as the automotive, health, textile, and defense sectors, Ayhan Prepol, a co-founder of Iltema, which makes the fabric, told Anadolu Agency.

Turkey: more than 38,000 irregular migrants held in sea in 2019

6 Oct 2019; MEMO: The Turkish Coast Guard arrested 38,467 irregular migrants and detained 56 human smugglers in the country’s waters in 2019.

In 2019, a total of 1,115 cases of irregular migration took place in Turkey’s waters, according to information obtained by an Anadolu Agency correspondent.

The number of irregular migrants recorded in the first 9 months of 2019 increased more than two-fold compared to the same period last year.

‘France, Turkey can fulfil $22billion bilateral trade volume’

6 Oct 2019; MEMO: France and Turkey can realize €20 billion (nearly $22 billion) trade volume target, said an economy counsellor from the French Embassy in Ankara, Turkey’s capital.

France wants to enhance cooperation with Turkey in strategic areas, such as smart cities, energy, sustainability, transportation, innovation, environment management, and agriculture, Daniel Gallissaires told Anadolu Agency.

Turkish operation in Syria may start in coming days, says Erdogan

ANKARA, October 5. /TASS/: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan does not rule out that the operation on creation of a safety zone in Syria may start within days.

"The creation of a safety zone in Syria is the most rational way to return Syrians back home. We have decided to act independently. We will execute that operation both from the ground and from the air. Possibly today or tomorrow (the operation will start - TASS)," President said in an address in Ankara on Saturday that was broadcast by A Haber TV channel.

Turkey targets over 5% growth in coming years: President

5 Oct 2019; AA: Turkey targets a growth rate over 5% or more in coming years, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Saturday.

The country also aims to fall the inflation rate below 5% and to lower the unemployment rate under 10% at the end of New Economic Program for 2020-2022, Erdogan told his party members during the ruling Justice and Development (AK) Party's 29th Consultation and Assessment meeting in Kizilcahamam, a retreat town of capital Ankara.

Turkish drillship on new duty in Mediterranean Sea

4 Oct 2019; AA: Yavuz, a Turkish drilling vessel, is undertaking a new expedition in Turkey’s continental shelf in northeast of Cyprus, according to an official.  

“Yavuz will launch a new round of offshore drilling operations on 7 October 2019,” Cagatay Erciyes, acting director general at the Turkish Foreign Ministry, said on Twitter.  

“The drilling area lies within the Turkish CS [continental shelf] registered with the UN," he added.

Turkey, US discuss accelerating safe zone establishment

5 Oct 2019; MEMO: Turkey’s presidential spokesman Ibrahim Kalin and the US National Security Advisor Robert C. O’Brien discussed accelerating the establishment of the safe zone in northern Syria over the phone, Anadolu Agency reported.

Kalin and O’Brien touched on several issues including bilateral trade target of $100 billion annually, counter-terrorism and developments in Syria and Libya.

Airbus To Invest Over $5 Billion In Turkey By 2030

ANKARA, Oct 5 (NNN-ANADOLU) – Airbus is expected to invest around $2.5 billion in Turkey in 2020, and that figure will jump over $5 billion by 2030, Turkish Transport and Infrastructure Minister, Cahit Turhan, said.

Turkey and Airbus have maintained a strong and successful collaboration in civilian and military aviation for some 30 years, Turhan added.
