Tendency To Return Home Among Syrian Refugees In Turkey Decreases

ANKARA, Oct 4 (NNN-ANADOLU) – Surveys carried out by Turkish experts showed that, tendency to return home among Syrian refugees is decreasing.

Experts from TOBB University of Economics and Technology, Social Policy Research Centre, presented a briefing to the Turkish parliament’s commission on migration and integration on Oct 2, on the results of recent field surveys with 22,000 Syrians in Turkey.

Turkey fines Facebook $282,000 over privacy breach

3 Oct 2019; MEMO: Turkish authorities have fined Facebook Inc 1.6 million lira ($282,000) for violation of data protection laws which affected nearly 300,000 people, the Personal Data Protection Board (KVKK) said today.

Facebook has been facing a lawsuit in the United States from users seeking to hold the company liable for allowing third parties, including Cambridge Analytica, to access their data.

Turkey says Syria 'safe zone' efforts are not yielding results

ANKARA (Reuters) - Turkey does not think its effort with the United States to form a “safe zone” in northeast Syria will yield the results it wants and is ready to carry out a military operation, Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu was quoted as saying on Thursday.

Ankara and NATO ally Washington have agreed to establish a zone on the Syrian border that Turkey wants to be 30 km deep and cleared of the Syrian Kurdish YPG militia, which it sees as a terrorist organization.

Turkey Cannot Afford To Delay Safe Zone Establishment In Syria: Erdogan

ANKARA, Oct 2 (NNN-ANADOLU) – Turkey has no time to waste to set up a safe zone across the Turkey-Syria border, Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, said.

“We told those who kept delaying Turkey’s proposals, to eliminate the terrorist organisation and make Syrian territory safe for refugees, that this game is up,” Erdogan said.

“We tried every method to resolve the problem next to our border, in cooperation with our allies. We were more than patient and always expressed our determination,” Erdogan said.

Turkey unveils plans to resettle refugees in safe zone in northern Syria

ANKARA, Oct. 1 (Xinhua) -- Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan revealed on Tuesday for the first time the plans for resettling 2 million people in the safe zone to be built in northern Syria.

The zone, to be established between the Euphrates River and the Iraqi border, was agreed by Turkey and the U.S. in August.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the new legislative year of the Turkish parliament, Erdogan vowed to take unilateral military steps to set up the zone, adding that Turkey plans to hold a donor conference for the reconstruction of northern Syria.

Turkey Unveils New Economic Programme With Ambitious Growth Target

ANKARA, Oct 1 (NNN-ANADOLU) – Turkey laid out a new three-year programme to recover its economy, with ambitious targets, including a surge in growth and a slowdown in inflation.

During a presentation in the capital, Ankara, Turkish Treasury and Finance Minister, Berat Albayrak, said, consumer price growth forecast has been revised to an annual 12 percent, at the end of this year, from 15 percent in Aug. Last year’s government predictions were 15.9 percent for 2019.

Turkey Shoots Down Drone Near Syria Border

ANKARA, Sept 30 (NNN-ANADOLU) – Turkish army, on Sunday, shot down a drone that violated Turkish airspace for six times, the Defence Ministry, said.

Two Turkish F-16 fighter jets tracked down the drone, after its repeated violations of Turkish airspace, but which country the drone belonged to, could not be immediately determined, said the ministry.

Turkey to keep up efforts to shed light on Khashoggi killing

ANKARA, Turkey (AP) — Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan says his country will continue with efforts to shed light on the killing of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

In a Washington Post op-ed published Monday, Erdogan described the journalist’s killing by a Saudi hit squad as “arguably the most influential and controversial incident of the 21st Century.”

His comments come ahead of the first anniversary of Khashoggi’s Oct. 2 slaying at the Saudi Consulate in Istanbul.

Erdogan's AK Party membership seen sliding further as dissent grows

Erdogan vows to continue oil, natural gas trade with Iran

Ankara, Sep 27 (AFP) Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan vowed Ankara would continue to purchase oil and natural gas from Iran despite US sanctions in comments published on Friday.

The United States reimposed sanctions on Iran after pulling out of the landmark 2015 nuclear deal, and says it aims to reduce Tehran's energy sales to zero.
