India: Four booked for offering namaz at Mathura temple

Mathura, Nov 2 (PTI) Police arrested a man and booked three others after a video clip showing members of their group offering namaz on the premises of a temple here surfaced on social media, officials said.

According to Mathura SP (Rural) Shrish Chandra, one of the accused--Faizal Khan--was nabbed in Delhi and being interrogated.

The other three accused in the case have been identified as Chand Mohammad, Alok Ratan and Neelesh Gupta.

Israel-India shares close bond: Ambassador Malka

Khetri (Assam), Nov 2 (PTI) Israels Ambassador to India Ron Malka on Monday said his country shares a close bond of friendship with India and the two countries complement each other.

India: Man sentenced to 10 years in prison for raping woman in UP

Fatehpur (UP), Nov 3 (PTI) A man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison by a court here for raping a woman here in 2018.

Additional District and Sessions Judge, Lalbabu Yadav, also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on the convict Raju Vishwakarma, government counsel RB Srivastava said on Tuesday.

Vishwakarma was arrested two days after the crime on May 29, 2018 and has been in jail ever since.

India: Suspected maoist killed in police firing in Kerala

Wayanad(Ker), Nov 3 (PTI) A suspected maoist was killed in an alleged encounter between the Kerala police and a gang of Left extremists in the district early on Tuesday, police said.

The firing between the Thunderbolt, an elite commando force of state police specialised in combating extremists, and the suspected ultras took place in the nearby Banasura forest area under Padinjarethara police station limits.

There are news reports saying thegun fight between the Thunderbolt and Maoists isstill continuing.

India: UP additional chief secy tests positive for COVID-19

Lucknow, Nov 3 (PTI) Uttar Pradesh Additional Chief Secretary, Health, Amit Mohan has tested positive for COVID-19 and admitted to the Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGI), a senior official said on Tuesday.

Prasad has been briefing the media here about the COVID-19 situation in Uttar Pradesh.

"Prasad was on Monday admitted to the SGPGI after testing positive for the virus. A team of senior doctors is monitoring him," PGI Director, RK Dhiman, said.

India: Karnataka to enact law banning religious conversions for marriage, says Minister

Bengaluru, Nov 3 (PTI) Karnataka Tourism Minister and BJP national general secretary C T Ravi on Tuesday said a law banning religious conversions for the sake of marriage will be enacted in the state.

He said the government will not remain silent when 'Jihadis' strip the dignity of women in the state.

The statement comes days after the Allahabad High Court held that conversion of religion for the purpose of marriage was illegal.

Indian man running grocery store murdered in US, family requests govt help

Hyderabad, Nov 3 (PTI): A 37-year old man from Hyderabad has allegedly been murdered in Georgia in the United States on Sunday night, his family members said here.

Mohammed Arif Mohiuddin from Chanchalguda area here, who was running a grocery store in Georgia, was stabbed to death by some persons, they said on Tuesday.

In a letter addressed to External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, the man's wife requested him to ask the Indian Embassy in the US to inquire into the reasons of the murder.

India: 4 Naxal terrorists arrested, arms and ammunition seized in Jharkhand

Simdega (Jharkhand), Nov 2 (PTI) Four Naxals belonging to the banned People's Liberation Front of India (PLFI) outfit have been arrested in Jharkhand's Simdega district and arms and ammunition seized from their possession, police said on Monday.

Acting on a tip-off, police personnel conducted a search operation in Kanarowan forest in Bano police station area on Sunday and arrested the four Naxals, Superintendent of Police Shams Tabrez said.

On seeing the policemen, the Naxals attempted to flee but the personnel chased and nabbed them, the officer said.
