India: Kanpur stays among top ten tier-II cities for Covid products

Kanpur: Among Tier-II cities, Kanpur was one of the top-10 cities that saw maximum demand for all COVID-related products and services. 

The QoQ demand for disinfectant liquids also shot up by 82%. Among Tier-I cities, Delhi, Mumbai, and Hyderabad were the top-3 with maximum demand while in Tier-II cities- Indore, Kanpur, and Patna were the top-3.

New Delhi, Oct 21 (PTI) Congress leader P Chidambaram on Thursday alleged that the Modi government subscribes to pluralism in the world but supports majoritarianism in India.

He said the new Quad consists of four countries that reflect the pluralism of the world with the US (secular, but mainly Christian), India (secular, but mainly Hindu), Israel (Jewish) and the UAE (Islamic).

India: Bear enters Sikkim Raj Bhavan (Gov House), helps itself with chickens

Gangtok, Oct 21 (PTI) A Himalayan black bear was rescued from the Raj Bhavan complex in Gangtok on Thursday after a gruelling operation that lasted for hours, officials said.

The bear was first spotted by the Raj Bhavan staff around midnight, following which the Forest Department was informed, they said.

India: Woman gang-raped in Rajasthan

Jaipur, Oct 21 (PTI) A 35-year old woman was allegedly raped by three men in Nagaur district of Rajasthan and her hair was cut, police said on Thursday.

An FIR was registered under relevant sections of the IPC on Wednesday night and one of the three accused, Udaram, was arrested, SHO Sribalaji police station Shiv Singh said.

According to a complaint lodged by the woman, Sheraram (55), his elder brother Udaram (65) and Sheraram's son Ghanshyam took her to an agricultural field, where they raped her.

India: Man held for sexually abusing six-year-old girl in Maha

Thane, Oct 22 (PTI) Police have arrested a man from Kalyan in Maharashtra's Thane district for allegedly sexually abusing a six-year-old girl, an official said on Friday.

The 51-year-old accused, identified as Madhav Santra, was arrested following a complaint lodged against him on Thursday, he said.

India: UPSRTC arranges bus operations to ease passenger's pains

Kanpur: Bus passengers are supposed to face no problem of rush during Diwali as the UP Roadways Corporation will operate as many as 200 buses in the state. 

There will be run a total of 50 air-conditioned buses in this fleet of operation.

It has been said that the Corporation decided to operate the extra buses for the passenger's comfort during the festive days.

The UPSRTC will operate additional 200 buses from Delhi to various cities of Uttar Pradesh starting from October 25.

India PM Modi to attend Glasgow climate meet, environment minister says

NEW DELHI, Oct 21 (Reuters) - Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the U.N. climate summit in Glasgow, the environment minister said on Thursday, in a boost for efforts to agree steeper emissions cuts to tackle global warming.

India is the world's third-biggest emitter of greenhouse gases after China and the United States, and Modi's participation in the COP26 summit, which runs from Oct. 31 to Nov. 12, was seen as critical amid uncertainty over whether Chinese President Xi Jinping would attend.

India: Man held for assaulting fiancee from Kanpur

Kanpur: A Delhi-based man was arrested from Kanpur on Wednesday for allegedly raping and assaulting his 21-year-old fiancee, the Noida police said.

He was absconding since an FIR was lodged against him on July 17. He lived in Zakir Nagar area of Delhi. 

"The accused's fiancee lives in Noida. She got a police complaint lodged claiming rape and assault by the man in March.

She had also claimed that the accused had threatened to harm her if she told anyone about the incident," a police spokesperson said.
