India: 26 die, over 10 hurt as tractor trolley overturns near Kortha village

Kanpur: Screaming and wailing enveloped Kortha village of Narwal Tehsil here. When six dead bodies were kept at the house courtyard. It was a heart wrenching scene.

As many as 26 people had lost their lives in the village simultaneously. A tractor trolley returning from Mundan overturned near a place, about two and a half km from the village.

The Mundan ceremony of Abhi, son of Raju Nishad of the village, was on Saturday at Chandrika Devi temple.

India: Phone evidence leads 3 arrests in Kanpur hostel obscene videos case

Kanpur: As many as three people have been so far arrested in the case related to the girls' obscene videos taken in a hostel here. This arrest has taken place a day after the hostel staffer was caught filming them showering.

The staffer, who allegedly made videos of several girl students, was arrested on September 29 and the police have recovered evidence from the seized phone of the accused.

We have evidence of videos on the phone as per primary investigation, said Anand Prakash Tiwari, joint commissioner here.

India: Police arrest hostel sweeper for filming videos of girl students

Kanpur: A man, employed as a sweeper in a private hostel here, has been arrested for filming videos of girl students. It is they who accused him of making their obscene videos.

The incident took place in a hostel located in the Tulsi Nagar area here where medical aspirants are staying.

The accused allegedly made videos of girls showering. The girl students filed a police complaint leading to the arrest of the man allegedly involved in the despicable act.

According to the complaint, the hostel staffer made several obscene videos of the girls in the hostel.

India: Female student serious, 70 others unwell at Kanpur medical college

Kanpur: Above 70 medical students on campus have been suffering from fever after 16 pigs were found dead at GSVM Medical College.

Condition of a female student has become critical and been in a coma since Wednesday morning. She has been put on a ventilator.

Another 5 students got sick and have been admitted to the hospital.

Media in-charge of the college, Dr Ganesh Shankar said that samples have been sent to Lucknow for  analysis of Japanese encephalitis.

India: PCB acts against seven tanneries polluting around airport

Kanpur: As many as seven tanneries were closed in Pyodi area here. It is the place where airport has been built. 

As reported the leather put for drying used to invite birds thereby hampering the smooth flying of aircraft.

All the tanneries were installed in areas around the Chakeri airport wall here.

Actually, the leather prepared in these tanneries was put outside for drying. The aircraft flying over was getting affected due to presence of birds.

India: If rain comes in morning, dry noon departs for people

Kanpur: The weather was sunny in the morning but after 11 a.m. it rained in some parts of the city. While some parts of the city areas remained dry.

However, clouds still continue over the whole of the city.

According to meteorologists, for the next 2 to 3 days such kind of weather would go on However, it can be sunny in between.

The city has begun to realise coolness despite the temperature at night and morning hovering around 23 degrees. While the temperature rises to 25 to 27 degrees in the afternoon

India: Flaws in purchase of sports equipment for RAMSA schools surface

Kanpur:  There was surfaced negligence in the purchase of sports equipment in the City's 21 government schools regulated under the National Secondary Education Campaign.

The DDR, Kanpur Division Prem Prakash Maurya said that an inspection was conducted of the schools coming under the RAMSA. Various points have come out. There are points which fall under the power of audit. The DIOS can furnish details about it.

The purchase was completed without a tender. The process was not attended to.

India: Urs begins with jam on Lucknow-Kanpur Highway

Kanpur: Hazrat Makhdoom Shah's 764th Urs Mubarak began at the Jajmau area here on Sunday. There was a crowd from the Dargah site to the Dargah road, which caused a jam on the Kanpur-Lucknow highway.

However, the diversion was a step toward relief. The police kept the crowd aside and allowed the vehicles to pass so that the passers-by did not have to face much trouble.

Even Jajmau's 150 feet road was kept vacant from vehicles to allow people a hassle-free way. The traffic police even took photos of vehicles for the challan.

India: Paper hammer being used to mould shapes at Kanpur ITI

Kanpur: Govt ITI, Pandu Nagar tells its own story. The sheet metal workers are taught the art of making cupboards, coolers or milk boxes etc. by bending the sheet into different shapes with a hammer.

The special thing is that both the hammer and the sheet are paper in training.

Students coming from far away are learning to make diagrams only in the name of practical.
