India: Paper hammer being used to mould shapes at Kanpur ITI

Kanpur: Govt ITI, Pandu Nagar tells its own story. The sheet metal workers are taught the art of making cupboards, coolers or milk boxes etc. by bending the sheet into different shapes with a hammer.

The special thing is that both the hammer and the sheet are paper in training.

Students coming from far away are learning to make diagrams only in the name of practical.

The broken new metric hammer machine was used to bend the iron sheet. It puts a weight of 65 kg. it is not in usable condition for three years. This is how the hammer machine was scrapped in the institution.

The principal, Dr Naresh Kumar said that a total budget of seven crores has been allocated from the directorate for the repair and purchase of machines, including three or four building repairs.

The state government has planned to improve government institutions in the next two years.

Under this, smart rooms will be prepared in all government ITIs. Also, digital contact for all trade courses will be made available.
