India: Missing student found dead near railway track in Kanpur

Kanpur: A class 12 student had gone reportedly missing, but he was found dead in a secluded place near his school, police said.

Assistant Divisional Commissioner of Police (Kanpur), Brijesh Srivastava, said that there were no injury marks on the body of 18-year-old Ronil Sarkar.

"We are awaiting the post-mortem report. The police will investigate how the boy reached the isolated place, around 500 metres away from his school," he expanded.

Meanwhile, Police have revised the missing report case into a murder First Information Report.

India: Pregnant woman was found murdered in Kanpur area

Kanpur: A six-month pregnant woman was found murdered on Sunday afternoon. The woman's body was found in a bloodied condition in a cot inside a mosquito net.

When the woman's husband reached home with the daughter, he was surprised to see the dead body of the wife.

Police and forensic team reached the site & inspected the spot. The body of the woman was sent for post-mortem.

India: Three die from inhaling toxic gas of unused septic tank

Kanpur: Three people, including a minor, died after inhaling toxic fumes, police said here on Monday.

They were removing the shuttering of an unused septic tank when the accident appeared.

According to news, the incident took place on Sunday evening. The police added that the deceased were identified as Nandu, 18, his elder brother Mohit, 24, and their neighbour Sahil, 16, all residents of Chaubepur area here.

India: 7-year-old girl buries under debris of slab in Beconganj area

Kanpur: A seven-year-old girl student got buried under the debris of a dilapidated house on Hirman Ka Purwa coming under Beconganj police station here on Saturday afternoon.

While breaking the slab, a large part of the debris came down suddenly thereby burying a little girl named Maria Farid, d/o who was passing by the corridor after school.

After a struggle of about half an hour, the relatives with the help of local people rescued the girl and took her to a private hospital.

India: Patchwork on dilapidated roads after completion of tender

Kanpur: The implementation of the Chief Minister's order to make the roads pothole-free does not seem to be completed within the deadline of November 15.

There are only 19 more days left in this. Patchwork was done on some roads of the city, but many roads in the south are still in bad shape.

The tender for patchwork of 56 roads will be invited with a amount of Rs 4.5 Crores, said the municipal commissioner here today.

There are big potholes on the crumbling roads. Many two-wheeler riders are often getting chuckled by falling.

India: Panic grips IIT campus as leopard was sighted

Kanpur: The IIT staff and students have been put on high alert following reports of a leopard being sighted on campus.

The institute's security personnel reported seeing a leopard on Wednesday close to the IIT's airstrip.

Soon after, the residents of the institute were urged to exercise caution. The institute administration has requested assistance from the Forest Department and alerting them of this development.

A leopard has been seen on campus, this message from the institute deputy director Prof A. Ganesh. It caused panic to the community.

India: Fire engulfs mattress factory at Kanpur's Juhi area

Kanpur: A massive fire broke out in a mattress factory in Juhi O Block here on Wednesday, causing a stir in the area.

As many as 24 fire tenders were put into dousing the leaping fire after three hours.

24 fire tenders reached the spot and brought the fire under control after three hours of effort.

Police in the prima face found the factory was running illegally. There is a glass warehouse on the ground floor.

Instead of saving wife, man films her hanging

Kanpur: A woman dies after hanging herself from a fan in the presence of her husband. Raj Kishore Gupta, a resident of Kidwai Nagar, had married his daughter Shobita four years ago with Sanjeev Gupta, a resident of Gulmohar area.

On Tuesday afternoon, Shobhita committed suicide by hanging herself in her house. Husband Sanjeev informed this to the wife's family members.

When Shobhita's family members reached her in-laws' house, they saw that their daughter's body was lying on the bed. It is being told that there was a dispute between husband and wife for a long time.

India: Car driver's nap causes one death & four hurt in Kanpur Dehat

Kanpur: The moving car collided with a tree on Jhansi Highway in Bhognipur of Dehat district after the driver had a nap.

One youth died while four including the driver of the car were injured. They were taken to CHC Pukhraya.

30-year-old Moin Khan of Barwalia village in Saraini, Rae Bareli, was working in a factory at Surat in Gujarat.

He had left for his home on Monday night with friends. On Tuesday, before reaching Mawar village in Bhognipur area, the car driver Javed had a nap.

Suddenly, the car overturned and hit a tree on the roadside.

India: Goods train derails as eight wagons pile up near Fatehpur

Kanpur: A goods train carrying an empty wagon from Central station got derailed at Ramwan station near Fatehpur on Sunday.

Train's eight wagons run over each other ruining the tracks.

As a result, rail traffic got disrupted on the Delhi-Howrah route upon the Up and Down railway tracks.

Twelve passenger trains, including Vande Bharat Express, have been affected due to the damage to the tracks.

The process of clearing the track and repairing the OHE line has started. The engineers expect the situation to return to normal by evening hours.
