India: Fire engulfs mattress factory at Kanpur's Juhi area

Kanpur: A massive fire broke out in a mattress factory in Juhi O Block here on Wednesday, causing a stir in the area.

As many as 24 fire tenders were put into dousing the leaping fire after three hours.

24 fire tenders reached the spot and brought the fire under control after three hours of effort.

Police in the prima face found the factory was running illegally. There is a glass warehouse on the ground floor.

From the first to the third floor, a mattress factory of Mohammad Iqbal, a resident of Civil Lines.  prepares quilts, mattresses and other clothing.

The factory was closed since Monday due to the Diwali holidays. On Wednesday, Iqbal's brother was sitting alone on the first floor.

Suddenly a fire broke out at around evening, in the clippings lying on the roof. Soon the fire engulfed the third floor and the second floor respectively.
