India: Six naxal terrorists held in Telangana, arms seized

Hyderabad, July 6 (PTI): Six members of CPI (ML) Janashakti group naxalites were on Monday arrested in Rajanna Sircilla district on the charge of possession of weapons and extortion, police said.

On reliable information, a police team caught them with the arms under Thangallapally police station limits.

During interrogation, the six revealed that they were holding different posts in the CPI (ML) Janashakti Ramachandram Party group, thedistrict Superintendent of PoliceRahul Hegdesaid.

India: Monkey hanged to death in Telangana

Hyderabad, Jun 29 (PTI): In a case of extreme brutality, a monkey was hanged to death from a tree by three people in a bid to scare other simians in Khammam district of Telangana, about 275 KM from here, forest department officials said on Monday.

"The perpetrators, who admitted their guilt, are being booked under the Wildlife Protection Act," Sathupalli Forest Range Officer A Venkateswarlu said.

Hyderabad, Jun 18 (PTI) The Telangana High Court has asked why majority of the victims of alleged police excesses during the lockdown were from a particular community, even as it observed that the counter affidavit filed by police in one of the pleas on their high-handedness lacked all relevant details.

A bench, comprising Chief Justice Raghvendra Singh Chauhan and Justice B Vijaysen Reddy,asked in its observations whether a minority community was targeted.

India: Thousands bid tearful adieu to Col. Santosh Babu killed by Chinese troops

Suryapet (Telangana), Jun 18 (PTI): Amid chants of "Bharat mata ki jai", the mortal remains of Colonel Bikkumalla Santosh Babu, who was killed by Chinese troops during clashes, were consigned to flames with full military honours here on Thursday.

Thousands of people wearing masks chanting "Santosh Babu amar rahe" and "Vande Mataram" participated in the funeral procession even as scores, standing on balconies of their respective places showered flowers on the army vehicle which was carrying the body.

India: Two IPS trainees test positive for COVID-19

Hyderabad, June 9 (PTI): Two IPS trainees have tested positive for COVID-19 and been quarantined at the city-based Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA), a premier training institute of the country for the Indian Police Service officers, an official said on Tuesday.

The two were among the 131 IPS probationers of 71 Regular Recruits (RR) 2018 batch, who returned from District Practical Training (DPT), to the Academy.

Sangareddy (Telangana), May 2 (PTI) A daily wage labourer allegedly killed his four-year-old daughter and claimed he killed her due to financial problems, police said on Saturday.

The 35-year-old man was father of two daughters and a son, police said. on Saturday.

Hyderabad, Apr 27 (PTI) A retired Major of the Army was on Monday booked by the Cyberabad Police here for allegedly posting fake news on a social media platform, police said.

The Cyber Crime Police noticed that Twitter account holder "theskindoctor13" created a fake news article by editing an old news report in an English daily as 'Cyberabad Police Bans sale of Oranges in the City', an official release said.

Hyderabad, Apr 26 (PTI) A prolonged lockdown may possibly push million of Indians into the "margins of subsistence", former RBI Governor Duvvuri Subbarao said on Sunday while expecting a 'V' curved recovery once the COVID-19 crisis ends and the turnaround in India to be faster than some economies.

India: Young migrant worker from Bihar ends life in Telangana

Hyderabad, Apr 14 (PTI) A 24-year old migrant worker from Bihar allegedly committed suicide here reportedly upset over not being able to return home due to the coronavirus lockdown, police said on Tuesday.

The man, who belonged to Lakhisarai district, was found hanging from a ceiling fan in his rented room in Uppal area on Monday, they said.

India: Man booked in Hyderabad for spitting on the road

Hyderabad, Apr 11 (PTI): With the Telangana government banning spitting in public places in the backdrop of COVID-19 pandemic, a police case has been registered here against a man for violating the rule.

During vehicle-checking on Friday, police found the man spitting on the road here and registered a case against him for disobedience to order duly promulgated by a public servant, police said.
