India: "Divisive forces" trying to enter Hyderabad: KCR

Hyderabad, Nov 28 (PTI): Seeking support for TRS in the Hyderabad civic polls, Chief Minister and party president K Chandrashekhar Rao on Saturday alleged that some "divisive forces" were trying to enter the city to disturb peace and tranquility.

"Some divisive forces are trying to enter Hyderabad and create havoc in the city.

Are we going to allow it? Are we going to lose our peace?...

My dear brothers and sisters of Hyderabad...as Chief Minister of Telangana, I am appealing earnestly, please come forward.

India: BJP releases manifesto for Hyderabad civic polls

Hyderabad, Nov 26 (PTI) The BJP on Thursday promised financial assistance of Rs 25,000 for each family affected by the recent rains in the city, free electricity to families which consume less than 100 units and free travel for women in city buses and metro trains among others, in its manifesto for the civic polls in Hyderabad.

The manifesto, released by former Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, said COVID-19 vaccine would be provided to all as per the suggestions of the Centre.

India: Rama Rao slams BJP for releasing 'charge sheet'

Hyderabad, Nov 24 (PTI) TRS working president K T Rama Rao on Tuesday flayed BJP for releasing a 'charge sheet' against the party, saying it should instead be against the NDA government for its 'failures' on the economic front and not helping Telangana.

Rao, son of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, said the 'charge sheet' released by Union Minister Prakash Javadekar on November 22 had described the state government as 'TRS-MIM' government when the reality was it was being run by TRS alone.

"It is a TRS government in this state. There are no partners for us.

Indian economy now in recession

Hyderabad, Nov 19 (PTI) Stepping up the attack on the BJP, the ruling TRS on Thursday hit out at the handling of the economy, alleging it was now in a recession, preceded by a slowdown for eight consecutive quarters prior to the COVID-19 -induced lockdown.

"While the NDA government may call it an act of God, I would call it an act of fraud....What they have done, what they have perpetrated on this country, is an act of fraud, without a question. Lakhs of workers have suffered," said TRS Working President K T Rama Rao.

India: Case against temple priest for refusing rituals for SC family

Hyderabad, Nov 13 (PTI) A case under the SC and ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act was registered on Friday against a temple priest in Jangaon district of Telangana for allegedly refusing to perform certain rituals for a family which belongs to Scheduled Caste community, police said.

The family wanted to perform certain ritual and the priest allegedly refused on the grounds of caste, they said.

Following a complaint by the family, the case was registered and due process of law was on, they added.

Indian man running grocery store murdered in US, family requests govt help

Hyderabad, Nov 3 (PTI): A 37-year old man from Hyderabad has allegedly been murdered in Georgia in the United States on Sunday night, his family members said here.

Mohammed Arif Mohiuddin from Chanchalguda area here, who was running a grocery store in Georgia, was stabbed to death by some persons, they said on Tuesday.

In a letter addressed to External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, the man's wife requested him to ask the Indian Embassy in the US to inquire into the reasons of the murder.

India: Telangana govt extends ban on Maoists for another year

Hyderabad, Oct 31 (PTI) The Telangana government has banned CPI (Maoist) and its front organisations for another year.

The ban on the Maoists has been extended for a further period of one year beyond August 17, 2020, and its front organisations, including Revolutionary Democratic Front, from August 9 of this year, an official press release said on Saturday.

India: BJP spreading lies on social security, says Telangana CM

Hyderabad, Oct 31 (PTI) Telangana Chief Minister and ruling TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao on Saturday hit out at the BJP for allegedly spreading lies vis--vis social security pensions in the context of November 3 byelection to Dubbak Assembly segment in the state.

He said the state governments expenditure on pensions is between Rs 10,000 crore and Rs 11,000 crore every year but the amount given by the Centre is only Rs 105 crore.

India: Man beheads mother after denied money for liquor

Hyderabad, Oct 24 (PTI): A man allegedly beheaded his 65-year-old mother and ran away with the severed head after she refused to give him money to buy liquor, police said on Saturday.

The incident was reported from a village in Nagarkurnool district of Telangana in the wee hours of the day, the police said.

The 45-year-old man was caught near a tank in the afternoon with the chopped-off head found hurled into bushes, they said.

A case has been registered and a complaint lodged by the man's older brother, they added.

India: Harassed for dowry, pregnant woman dies by suicide

Hyderabad, Oct 22 (PTI): A pregnant woman died by suicide in her house here due to alleged harassment by her husband and parents-in-laws for additional dowry, police said on Thursday.

The 24-year-old techie, who was five months pregnant, took the extreme step by hanging herself from a ceiling fan on Wednesday, the police said.

The woman's mother lodged a complaint stating that her daughter was pestered by her in-laws and her husband, a gym instructor, for additional dowry, they said.
